They kept the "did you know it's cold?" indicator. Always makes me giggle, normally I know it is cold, but I thank the light for telling me, just in case I missed it.

Like the FOG signs on the motorway, which in foggy conditions you have to be so close to read that...oh, never mind!

I see mention of CAN bus too, in the press announcement on Suzuki's web site.

And the "off road" biased XT (with spokes) has cruise control, but the standard (cast wheels) more road-biased variant, doesn't. Er....?

Oh well there's always one I guess, and I'm it. I actually like it, but in red. I always liked the DR 800 Big many moons ago. Lots of toys on this one, admittedly that could go wrong, but all in all, if the price wasn't too OTT, I could consider trading in my 650. Only a test ride will decide that.

Only the XT version comes with: adjustable seat, spoke wheels, central stand, Aluminum under cowling, engine bar, LED turn signals, Knuckle covers, Adjustable windscreen by hand, 12V DC socket under the seat, Motion Track Brake System, Hill Hold Control System, Slope Dependent Control System, Load Dependent Control System, Cruise Control System.

The ABS version has nothing, just the adjustable screen by wrench and alloy wheels.

The XT is now significantly heavier @ - XT: 247 kg
- ABS: 236 kg
If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.

The beak is actually less offensive on this model (did I say that) but the combination of that plus the single, square light means I won't own one.

 :shy:

It's starting to look slightly better than the outgoing model.

But still not as manly (can I say that these days?) as the classic shape ones

I may actually take a test ride of one.
Guess I'll have to go talk nice to my old work mates.

The absence on goodies on the std model says suggests the xt will now come with a Dr big premium. Gutted really as I don't want xt wheels and bars and stuff. But the e-toys and cc would be nice.

Looks like the torque curve has changed, glad the sub 4K burst has been ironed out. Max torque now 6 not 4K. Looks like a touch more top end as well.

Well I like it, especially the yellow one. But cruise control on the XT?
On a side note, wish some one would tell my DL1000 it can't go off road and definately shouldn't be towing a BMW GSA1200 on a rutted by way  :)

The beak looks like an air scoop to divert air flow (and rain) around the screen and direct it onto the rider. Very thoughtful.
Compared to grey, yellow makes it looks really slabby.
As for spokes .... another dreadful fashion error.
My friend at the dealers say the 650's spoked wheels are heavier than the cast wheels. Hmmmmm!
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

That means the picture filesize is too big (probably to fit the beak in). Shrink the filesize and they should load OK.

I suppose it's just an incremental upgrade but don't get why only the wire spoked wheel version gets the higher spec. I'll never buy another ROAD bike with wire wheels. Who wants to do wheel maintenance? Wasn't in the market for a new V-Strom anyway and the changes haven't altered that. I'll stick with what I've got - it still puts a big smile on my face :)

If I was 35 years younger, the quantum leap that Honda have taken with the new Fireblade would certainly be getting my attention  :text-bravo:
