My first thought was bloody hell they are going to make my legs hot, but the heat zinc covers really work well  :thumb:
The bike has come with some nice extras …. The screen, heated grips, the little rear rack including the colour coded plastic trim, higher handle bars and a side stand foot.
I rang the insurance while I was there changing over the bikes at a cost of £57.96 which I didn’t think was to bad  :thumb:

Going away on the Stone for a few days next week and realised that I have not used the bike much, maybe once since October. I thought I should take it for a bit of a ride to make sure I am still up to it and also to test out my new helmet with new Cardo, gloves and jacket. The bike behaved as usual - sulky lumpy and pretended it had forgotten it was a motorcycle. It takes a good ten miles to warm up a bit and about forty miles into a ride the engine smooths out and runs really nicely. The Brake and clutch levers were angle too far down and were quite awkward. A job left over from an experiment with bar risers. Anyhow I managed sixty five miles each way for a bacon and egg baguette at Grumpys in Earsham. All of the new gear worked fine except for the Cardo which was bought to whisper SatNav secrets in my ear and also allow me to communicate to my riding pal. Oh! dear it does so many things I don't want. I have to study it and memorise all of its annoying and unwanted attributes. I don't want an ology I just want to switch it on and use it Grrrrrr! (as Gnasher  says).
I changed the filter and oil a few weeks ago and before I set out today I checked the tyre pressures Front 36 good -  Rear 24 not so good. Always worth a look though.

Today, I had a nice trundle around North Northumberland and the Scottish borders. It was an odd-ball route as we were trying to dodge the worst of the blustery conditions, which we pretty much did. We crossed the Union Bridge just outside Berwick-upon-Tweed and took a few snaps. It was neither hot nor cold, if you kept out of the wind. I filled up on the way home and managed to squeeze 15.9L into my 16.9L tank...

Thanks but as I have clubbed together with a mate to buy the duo set I am stuck with the modern techie stuff he full understands but is, as yet, a mystery to me.  :old:  We got them so we could chat while riding errrrr!  no that's not it really. It's so he can call me back when I have taken a wrong turn. Although it'll be useful to be able to warn him that he's left his indicator on ( again).

Tried to get my daughter to leave the Mrs have a bit of a rest yesterday after noon, so thought we'd wash my bike as it was quite dirty.
She helped me get everything out, brought the bike over and she sprayed me, the bike and my car with the hose, said I'm bored now and went back inside.  Normally she loves to help me wash the bike or car.

So I finished washing the bike, put everything away and it was only around 4.30pm an the Mrs said why don't I go out for a spin and the two of them were cuddled watching the Lion King on Disney+

:auto-dirtbike: - Only a quick spin, not to take the pi$$ so headed off to Porthcawl for a short blast.
Quite busy there as the sun was out, but most bikers were heading home as I got there.
Quick hot chocolate and ice-cream and I was happy and returned along the old road with very little traffic.
Nice to be back out on the bike after it's winter hibernation, new tyres and chain & sprockets - never thought I'd put bikes away for winter, but since getting a car and a baby I've changed  :icon_no:

I only lasted 5 years as a 'bike only' biker before the lure of a car over winter became too strong... Only one of my mates still rides in winter, but even then he's selective of what days he goes out.

I've been out on the scooter a fair few times over the winter, but the big bikes have been kept off the road since the tail end of last autumn.

Yesterday.

I plotted a twisty route to Mablethorpe for the final sand race of the season. The B1202 from Wragby to the B1190 into Horncastle then unclassified roads to the A16, then the A157 into 1973's culture, Mablethorpe.

The racing is a no-holds barred exercise in motorsport, there were a couple of blokes on speedway bikes giving a brilliant display.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Every year I say I'll get to one of these and every year I forget it exists.
Come in 2025, you're time is up. Maybe next year :)

It looks a lot of fun and it's hard to think of a worse environment for a motorcycle to be in - salty water & sand  :auto-dirtbike:

Yes I agree with you 2112 I used to go to the Weston super mare beach race for many years and always thought blimey that cannot be good for the bikes, chains, sprockets etc. I remember the first time I went I had a new pair of dealer boots on and by the end of the day they were white with the salt and soaking wet and it rotted the stitching  lol

So, today's battle with the Victory involved laying it on it's side in a controlled manner so that I could access the sump plug to fit a new one. The sump plug is located on the left hand side of the bike, so virtually no access when it's on the sidestand. The original allen headed sump plug was rounded, rusty and had to be carefully chiselled out. It took a while but I persuaded it to move with sufficient force using progressively larger hammers... That done, I fitted a new bolt headed sump plug & new copper gasket. Once my mate pops by and helps me pick it up (it's 330kg), I can then change the oil. Fun & frolics indeed. Oddly, the panniers are a quick release design, but why ? It looks terrible without them.

Cheers  :thumb:

My mate's as strong as an Ox - and just as clever! I'll just make grunting noises while he picks it up himself

CRF250, blummin lovely.
Victory on its side, not so blummin lovely.
No wonder it was butchered though if firstly it's a stupid plug and secondly the access is rubbish.

Yes, a crappy design bound to fail. Like a few other features on the bike...
