Today I received some goodies for the tigger, a pair of folding highway pegs to go on the engine bars and a set of de-cat headers. The headers will be a bugger to fit, but give a tidy increase in power & torque and give out a LOT less heat under the engine, whch is nice. That's Christmas week filled in  :thumb:

xj600 - under the tank, inside a plastic sleeve and wrapped in two layers of tape a three way joint in the feed to the rear light, had parted. Four hours of fannying about with a volt meter in a chilly garage followed.

@Brockett, I sense an abundance of Christmas spirit with your discovery.

Calm down lad, calm down.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

They were Lextek and surprisingly good quality. To be fair they list 'up to 2018' and I took a punt as my model is the same as a 2018, but they mean up to the last of the Gen 2 Tigers. Mine, Gen 3, has slightly larger exhaust ports so it wouldn't quite fit.

2112 that is a real shame they would not fit, but a full refund including postage good result 👍
Do they list some for Your Gen 3 bike ?

The XJ now with all lights working was dragged from the garage and started ready for a ride to chelmsford and back to drop off my son's medicines.   I put 11 litres of Esso supe unleaded in it from recently filled cans that I bought a couple of weeks ago  The bike was reluctant to start. When it did fire up it would not pull away and just stalled. After six or seven tries I gave up and got the Black Stone out and rode that. 85 mile trip and most at 70 mph but a chilly 7 degrees when I got home. The Stone gets better and better every time I take it out. The engine is so much less vibey than when new and I really do like it.

Sadly not, it's a unique cylinder head for the last of the 'smooth running' 1200's before the T plane crank model came in. The bolt fixings are the same but the outlet port is slightly larger. It would have bolted up but never sealed properly, or if it did it would cause a restriction. Shame as it looked a proper nice bit of kit.

Checked out plugs and leads and coils etc everything looks right but sparks on all plugs and leads is very week. The spark will jump 6mm but looks very pale and with no audible "crackle". The same result with a correctly gapped new plug.

Today, the bike got a start & warm up and a new top box. The factory 42L (Triumph branded) Givi top box was a little bit on the compact side for my needs so I've ugraded to the 58L version. The old one is sat on top of the new one for scale. I quickly tried the panniers on and both lids open with no clearance issues. Happy.

Today, I have returned the new top box. It looks like Luigi was having an off day and fitted the lock 90 degrees out. This means you can only get the keys out when the case is unlocked, you cannot remove the keys once locked. Luckily, I had the Triumph one to compare & contrast, very odd, but I'll try another once I get my refund.

To my surprise it had stopped raining so I pulled my BMW out the garage, ran it for about 15 mins through a few heat cycles meanwhile, treating it to a wipe over with a cloth to get rid of the dust.

The idea of heading out for a ride entered my head, I looked up at the sky and though bollocks to that ....

Back in the garage it went ..  :groan:

Also, in my other garage I cast an eye over my CB500 commuter, it was still relatively clean, the tyres were still up and there wasn't any rust developing anywhere.
Didn't bother starting it , I can leave that bike for 6 months and it'll still start on the Button so it stays in the garage until I go back to work ..

decided to fit the new accessory relay kit I picked up a few weeks back.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374591898395

The clips on the connectors I'd bought previously would break connection with the vibration of the bike, so go over a bump and the heated grips and aux lights would cut out  :icon_batterup:

New set up is a bit neater the old one, everything runs through the relay box, thought the selection of fuses it came with were rather limited, So I'll need to pick up a couple of 2 & 3 amp micro fuses as spares.

I've still got the dash socket & USB port and heated gear socket running direct to the battery as the load is a bit more that I want going through the relay, plus I want the power with ignition off.

Took it our for a spin on some bumpy roads while the sun was shines - 40 miles of sun and dry roads - didn't see that happening given the weather we've had recently.
Back home, after a quick fuel fill and rinsed off and put back to bed - I'm hoping to use the bike for a bit of commuting in January as long as the salt holds off.
