Cracking run out that is Ridaz  :thumb:

I do the top of the run a few times a year but I must try harder. The problem is my mates either can't ride that far or can't get a long enough day pass off the Mrs...

Today saw the Tigger dropped off at Triumph Newcastle to have it's rear shock replaced under warranty tomorrow. To get me home I managed to blag the Tiger 900 Rally Pro demonstrator until tomorrow night when I get the 'bigger tigger' back. It's a hoot to ride and feels so light in comparison. The engine is a modern miracle and pulls almost as hard as my 1200 does from 2000 rpm to 7000 rpm, the 1200 has a cheeky top end rush which the 900 cannot match. In all honesty it is a true gem of an engine and if you get the chance take one for a test ride. I've never been a fan of 21" front wheels but the steering is so light and neutral you would think it was a 17" item fitted. Loads of feel and plenty of grip but the beastie Brembo Monoblocks can get the front tyre squealing with just a gentle pull of the brake lever. it's fairly comfy but I would have liked the pegs a bit further back and a set of bar risers. It has heated grips & seats as standard and has a very nice, clear & easy to read TFT dash.
However, the big fly in the ointment for me is the screen. This thing just generates noise & buffeting and is even worse on the higher setting. As I'm typing this now my ears are buzzing, despite ear plugs and a very quiet Shark helmet. It's a shame as it's a very good bike (except the colour scheme, but they do some nice colours as well) let down badly by a poorly designed fairing screen. And it's got a chain...

Glad you are getting your shock replacement done under warranty  :thumb:
A good review of the Triumph 900 Pro it is always good to ride different bikes and good of them to give you the opportunity to use it, I am sure you will relate your findings to them  :thumb:

Nice sunny day so a good time to wake up the 390 Duke  from it's winter nap. Went to Oulton Broad via Posh pigs for an all day breakfast and then a nice coffee and a cake at the Quay Cafe at Oulton.  The little 390 really is a tough little bike with superb suspension, - no not hyperbole all the horrid bone jangling bumps that catch me out on that route are felt but are in no way painful as they are on every other bike I've ridden. For company I had a week old V4 Ducati street fighter, an almost run in Royal Enfield interceptor and a very old, but very nice "S" reg Honda fireblade. Of course I have trimmed the other bikes out of the shot so as to not show them up in the shade of the little KTM cracker.

I had a nice little trundle through some very out of the way parts of Northumberland today. Myself & my mate Matt had a look at crossing the causeway to Holy Island but the tides were against us. I also went past 5,000 miles on the Tiger today  :thumb:

Due to my imminent shed dwelling in Wales, I required an improved method of attaching my throw over panniers. I spent many minutes rummaging around in my "save it for later" pile. A frame from a House of Holland (circa 1970) coffee table provided some flat steel bar, the frame of a long since departed settee provided more steel and an off cut of 5 bar treadplate was deemed sufficient to form the bases. The spacers at the rear are the surplus fittings from a TV wall mount.

A dose of cutting, a bout of welding and a spot of drilling later gave me a passable pair of carriers.

Today I carted all the components to the North's premier powder coaters (Ridaz Engineering Ltd) in York. Following a lengthy and meticulous preparation procedure
the satin black powder coat was lovingly applied and subsequently fawned over by myself.

Thank you Tony.

To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Walter Rohrl.

and the award for prat of the day goes to ....... me
Out for a trundle on the VX and 60 miles later met with my pal out on his recently aquired Enfield Interceptor. We headed off for the Lowestoft coast and all was well until the engine stopped with that all too familiar lack of electrickery. Last time it was a Suzuki crimp deep in the loom that gave up  separating the alternator from the battery.
Battery connections checked,  fuse checked and recent resoldering the feed from the alternator to the battery checked. A call to friends brought a pick-up truck out and the bike was carted off to the bike shop. Battery out and replaced with a not quite flat jobbie. Key on, engine fired and ran and a voltmeter showed the alternator kicking out 13.2 volts. Then some clever bloke pointed out the almost complete lack of fluid in my battery. The casing was very dark in places and it looked somewhat cooked. Oh! damn. I'm so used to sealed batteries that I have never checked the level in the rather ( IMHO) old fashioned battery fitted to the bike. A new battery was purchased and all seems to be well as later in the day, it got me the 60 odd miles home with no problem. After some discussion it was agreed that as a penance I should carry a sign with the wording "I am an idiot" but that was later amended to add the word "still" following "am".

Due to my imminent shed dwelling in Wales,

You are staying in a Lodge (according to the manufacturer), we thought that was overstating the structure somewhat and dumbed that down to Cabins, however, I draw the line at Sheds  :icon_batterup:
