mr_diver. You really need to sort that garage out. It would take two hours max. Mine (when I had one) looked worse than yours until one day I took everything out, brushed the floor, put some shelves up then put everything I needed to keep back in again. I felt great after doing it, I could find what I was looking for and looking at it I felt so proud of myself.

Still, with little time to spare the bikes come first.  :thumb:

If you lived closer I would do it for you.  :) :thumb:

The garage is fairly organised, there is loads of bits near the door that needs to be binned, but I usually have my hands full when going back to the house and never go back for the rubbish.
One large bag has 2ltr bottle of water for rinsing the bikes down after a ride.
There are 2 sets of shelves to the left side and two 5ft long shelves all with various tools and supplies ready to go.
And a long bench table thing used for storage at the back left.

The floor did get swept about 2 months ago, but with all the wind we've had bits just blows in under the door, I did try putting draft excluder on the door, but then I got issues with condensation as there was very little ventilation

3 bikes, a scooter and a trailer nicely fills up a decent sized garage  :shy:

Sorry my friend, there was no explanation required. I thought that I was using dry humour but shouldn't have because I realise that you don't know me and I don't know you. Absolutely no offence meant, again sorry.  :thumb:

Happy new year.  :)

Sort out you garage..?
If you want a messy garage… (including three motorcycles, 9 pushbikes, my own junk plus the detritus from various children when they’ve ’moved out’.. “Dad, can I put this in the garage for now”.!).
But.. on the plus side, I can still see the floor, so still room for more 👍

Opened the blinds this morning to white stuff  :GRR:
Not GasGas weather , snow in the engine is a no no.
Still , there is no such thing as the wrong weather ...just the wrong kit/bike........
And the lanes start out the back of mine so......
Stopped on this windswept clearish bit to take a pic , turned to take a pic of the drifted snow behind and heard THAT noise....
Seems the mud was not as frozen as I thought and the stand sunk....
Not the first time she has decided to take a nap , but the first time I had my phone out while it happened ....usually my first thought is to get it up/off me  :icon_wink:
Picked her up , cycled the ignition to reset the tip over switch ( which had shut off the engine , that works  :thumb: ) and of we go again  , got to love fuel injection......and Bark Busters...
Last time I was off road in snow it was a Gagiva SX250 two stroke ...and starting that after a nap was a very different proposition

Open the garage door, disconnected the trickle chargers, stroked them whilst whispering loving words into their respective air boxes and re-adjusting the dust sheets covering them.

4 inches of snow sitting pretty outside and no sign of council gritters due to holiday/weekend. Main roads are black but the very strong gusty wind accompanied by white out snow showers mean Steve will be stoking the log burner and reading a book  :thumb:

Today, I finally got around to fitting my 2 tooth larger rear sprocket on the tranny. I was running a 46 tooth item (1 up on stock) last year and it made it a bit more sprightly out of corners, this should be even more fun ! According to 'Gearing Commander' (https://www.gearingcommander.com/) it will only alter 6th gear by 160 rpm, but makes a big difference in the lower gears. It's now close to the Honda Hornet 750 gearing. The best bit is I can run the stock number of chain links (128), no need to add any extra. Another bonus on the tranny is that the speedo takes it's information from the rear wheel ABS sensor, so the gearing change makes no difference to the speedo, result !

I can't see why more people don't explore gearing changes , considering what it costs  :thumb:
My last 4 ( edit ...5 the CRF too ...feck ..edit again ....6  , the CBR600RR as well.... ) bikes had lowered gearing  even the faster ones.....

Agreed Nigel, as a £ per £ improvement very few things come close ! My Transalp sprockets are around £40 and make a significant difference, an end can would be around £250 and might sound a bit better than stock (it might not either...) and would make no decernable difference. A K&N air filter is around £50 and makes a little bit more induction noise but no noticeable difference. On the other hand, my K Tech suspension cost a fortune but makes a hell of a difference and is worth every penny !

Agreed with the gearing. I went for more relaxed gearing on the STrom, what a difference.

XJ600Green - My Ebay tank resuscitation attempt. Today, after a 36 hour soak,  I emptied out a tankfull of vinegar and a resonable smattering of  rust flakes. I tipped the fluid back into the containers that it arrived in. Very brown and will be allowed to sit for a few days to settle out before I strain it through a few coffee filters and keep it as weed killer. I washed out the tank with hot water and baking soda to neutralise the vinegar and after a clean hot water rinse I applied the garage vacuum cleaner hose into the filler neck, set it on blow and blasted air inside for a few minutes and then applied some heat for 10 minutes with a hair dryer.  So that's the worst of it done. Next step is to give it 24 hours or so of electrolysis I have some soda crystals spare car battery and old fashioned charger and we'll see if there is any need for more cleaning. The start date for that is down to when the POR15 tank lining goop arrives.

Re a spare tank for the XJ - The tank was loaded with two litres of hot water containing a cupfull of soda crystals. Then topped up with cold water and power from a battery connected to charger was applied to a length of threaded rod bent so as to sit in the fluid and not touch the metal tank The rod was threaded through a old aerosol paint can lid drilled with a suitable hole with a washer and a nut each side to hold the rod in position. Four holes were drilled into the side of the lid to allow gasses to escape and a slot in the side as an observation port.
It fizzes away nicely and every two hours I clean the rod.  I notice that at times the water level rises ( maybe the water is warming and expanding) and at other times the level drops. I wonder if this is the electrolytic action braking down water molecules into Hydrogen and Oxygen? hence the need for vent holes in the cap. I am using the large self over the dryer and cupboard in the bathroom so the room is ventillated by the extractor fan.   I don't need to do this but it's fun to learn how to do it. ( As the Bishop said the actress).

I love your effort Brockett, very clever. My Son's first bike was an XJ600, great bike. We went to Bristol to collect it on my BMW 1150GSA, I was shocked as to how fast he passed me on the motorway on the way home. Woosh!  :auto-dirtbike:
