It first happened on ST5 , went to start the bike the clock needles went round , pulled in clutch , pressed starter and nothing ! Ignition off and try again and it fires up . Happened yesterday so pulled the clutch in/out a few times and it started , so I'm guessing at a faulty clutch lever switch . Can these be cleaned or should I just renew ?

Could just be lazy? I feel like that when my alarm goes off in the morning sometimes :)

Can't hurt to start out trying to clean it with lots of WD40. Worst-case scenario: replace it!

If you have an alarm/immobiliser fitted this might also be the problem. They can be a real headache and I personally would never fit one. Had to take the one of my Vee as this was causing  problems.

No alarm etc fitted , more trouble than what they are worth ..

Does it fire if you are quick, but not fire if you delay between switch on and the start button?

Not sure Strommer , I'll try it if it happens again . I've removed the clutch switch and washed it out with contact cleaner , I'll see how it goes now .

Mine was doing that recently too, I checked all of the switches, but it was the starter switch, a prolonged squirt of wd40 cleaned it out and alls now good, starting first prod again.
