On the BM 1100 etc plastic panniers they cleverly had options for the lid size, so you could add another 6 litres of volume on each pannier with the bigger "global" lids compared to the "normal" ones. 6 litres makes a big difference to a pannier that was 25 litres with the normal lids.

They even did a smaller lid for those who commuted on their bikes and didn't want to have a wide backside bouncing off cars etc.

I think it looks OK,better than a VERSYS anyway, should be cheap then it will sell.I would like to have
seen shaft drive on it , priced lower than KTM,XTZ,GS,STELVIO etc would work for me.  :)

I'm getting interested.. It needs to have mid 50s mpg when ridden sensibly and it needs to be cheap, but I fear it'll be around 9 grand, putting it firmly in used territory for me..

Ditto, I think they've missed a trick with chain drive.

Shafts add weight, not to mention two grand to the RRP.. And when they go you can't fix them in your shed with a grinder, two hammers and a long drift..

Rear Foot Pegs Welded to the Rear Subframe, and with the exhaust bolted to it???? Ahem Suzuki.... Going Backwards??? Please look at the bikes you have made in the past, especially the MK1 Bandit.... You drop it once, and you end up bending the whole b****y frame....

But otherwise, I think its a smart looking bike, but waaaay toooo similar to all the other Adventure bikes made now...

Like the look of the new Vstrom 1000, the only thing that is bugging me is the big exhaust can on one side.
I'm sure they could have designed cans along the lines of  the original one.
It's a bit of an own goal on Suzuki's part pulling the DL1000 just as the Adventure sport market was taking off, that's a nearly 5 years Suzuki have lost on their rivals especially Triumph etc.
I hope the price will be right! :auto-dirtbike:

Mmmm... Means it might be priced well. It needs a heavily revised engine though, Glee/Gladius levels of revision, the old TL engine with a few tweaks just won't cut it.

It looks like Woody Woodpecker with a wheel.

Agreed! Once you have Woody Woodpecker in mind, then that first pic and the 2nd -last main pic - unbelievable likeness!

Can't see what has changed from the prototype they produced (asuming this is the final version?) Welded sub frame still there?

I would take the 1988 bike over it, at the moment...

Hehe... Yeah. There's nothing wrong really with the beak, the headlight or the screen independently. But somehow, together they conspire to make you think "cartoon bird character." :-)

It may only take a little adjustment for Suzuki's designers to change that, but they really need to or instead of saying "I'm a mean, rugged adventure machine!" that front end is going to say "I'm about to outwit a cartoon cat in an amusing fashion."

If it had a genuinely useful 'peck' function I might be interested, but its just for show!

btw its on the Suzuki site here now...https://www.Suzuki-gb.co.uk/motorcycles ... 0-concept/

Doesn't appear in the test-ride options as yet, though.
