As a drummer (of limited ability) myself even I would agree with some of those sentiments Brockett.
I despair when I see a drum solo unless I've specifically gone to a drum clinic, all dedicated solos belong in the bin other than at clinics.
If you have neighbours then buy an electric kit, I spent my first year's student loan on mine and I still use it daily some 20yrs later.
That being said, as both a drummer and a fan of some exceedingly unlistenable 'music', drums are key, I'd lose the singer first
