A combination of siege mentality and conspicuous consumption?  "Look at how much we can spend, everybody" plus the fear of being 8 feet deep in snow despite the unlikeliness of said meteorological event.

My cat decided he wouldn't eat a certain food, just after I'd filled a cupboard with it. He'd look in the dish, look at me, turn his back on the dish and just sit down in protest. After two days I gave in.

Simple, no cats and no dogs and "diminish the surplus population!"

 :humbug:
So how's it going so far then?

Just a few thoughts
Not everyone is skint,
The people in Aldi are too skint to buy stuff they neeed let alone the stuff they don't need
The people in Tesco  are not skint so they buy everything they can think of.
Some people have relatives over for Christmas and so they do need two or three times as much food as normal.
 Peace and goodwill  folks

Having spent the past 3 days bed bound with the flu and a fever of 39 plus, I was forced out of my slumber today when water began running in through the light fitting. Dragging my fevered behind up the loft, I discover the solar panel fitter has peppered my roofing felt with tears (I count 12 so far) and I now have a waterlogged loft and no bed to convalesce in.
Merry Christmas one and all..........

I heard this story once Rixington about a couple looking for a bed for the night, they rocked up at stable and spent the night in there.

Lovely and warm.

Around this time of year as well.

I hope this helps.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I heard the woman was carrying someone else's baby though TLP, so it wouldn't be that much help.

Rixington,
That sounds like a living nightmare. Will your house insurance cover a hotel stay whilst that is sorted?

It's certainly sub optimal yes.
I haven't involved the insurance just yet and I have managed to bucket all the leaks and dry out the bedroom.
Roofer is due here at 8am tomorrow morning to reassess his original work. Depending on his response, he may or may not be glad I'm in a weakened state....

That's a crappy triple whammy. Roof leak, man-flu and Christmas. Hope you and the house are in a better state to enjoy some of it later.

I hope he's MCS accredited because he will be insured and should be able to offer alternative accommodation if required. Good luck today  :thumb:

Cheers all.
Yeah it's a fully accredited and registered company, roofer has been back and tidied up the inside and bonded over all the holes. Says he'll come back in January and remove the panels to check the rails and hooks and then patch from above as well to be safe.
Christmas is saved, bugger it, I'm off down the garage to touch up the engine casings on the Strom with VHT.
