Friday in work we got told our store is closing.
Nothing to do with profitability or trading conditions just the lease is up and the landlords want too much money to renew.

The kicker is we are one of the most consistent performers along with being the best presented and run store in the area. Area manager said this a couple of days before closure was announced.

We've been the ones going out and sorting the local shithole store and whipping the staff there into some sort of shape yet we are the ones being handed our P45's.

Thought I'd give an update...

On monday I started a new job...
NOT IN FECKING RETAIL!!!
AND NOT SELLING FECKING TILES!!!

I'm now flogging roadside enclosures... the sort that house electrical sub stations and telephone exchanges.

I have a desk in an office and a laptop.
But the main upside is I don't deal with the public... I deal with companies.  :happydance:
And I can walk to work   :old:

And I don't work weekends  :auto-dirtbike:  :auto-dirtbike:  :auto-dirtbike:  :auto-dirtbike:

Not really an moan.

But closing a moan.    :happydance:   :sunny:   :lala:   :obscene-drinkingchug:

Well done, you in the GRP kiosk business now? My workplace installs a fair few of these throughout the uk, if you want to drop details & I can pass on at work.

Excellent news
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Microwaves - great machines to have, but with one annoying feature in the design.

My old Microwave had a turntable that went round in 12 seconds, so put a jug with a handle at the front, set it for a whole number of minutes and open the door to find the handle at the front. Perfect.

New Microwave and for some stupid reason it takes 13.5 seconds to go round, so put a jug in and guess where the handle will be when you need it when it's bloody boiling hot.

I feel better now. I thought it was just me that got peed off by that. Kenwood replaced by another Kenwood. Time for my medication...

You need to retire Martin....you've obviously got too much time on your hands if you're timing microwave turntables!! I haven't got time to scratch my arse!!!

1) Use a dish. No handle, no angst.

Or..

2) Cook beans for multiples of 13.5 seconds. Aaaand, relax.

I didn't think of that until I had already put in a six-pot caliper setup.

Cricket.......love the game (it's not a sport btw)...... I played for my school, work and village teams.

What I hate is the Australian scoring back to front ......... 5 for 320  :icon_exclaim: instead of 320 for 5.

I also notice that the BBC scoreboard now has 'Batter' instead of Batsman. The Laws (not rules) of Cricket states Batsman. If it's a women's match the use of Batswoman is perfectly correct IMO.
So how's it going so far then?

A pitcher you hang on the wall, and there was quite a bit wrong with Hitler...
