Took the front sprocket cover off,saw that the sprocket is just showing signs of wear after 14,000 mls.Took the sprocket off and turned it around to equalise the wear.If it does another 14K.I will be happy.

While cleaning the chain last night I noticed about a millimetres play on the drive side of the rear wheel.  Not a big problem if I was at home but I'm in Dornie Scotland.  Hopefully it'll hang together the next 3 days and 500 mile to home.  Fingers, toes and everything else crossed too !

Porter: Hmm, assuming the rear is torqued up correctly I'd be thinking cushdrive rubbers need replacing (simple job). Good look on your tour, just got back from Scotland (again) myself.
In my defence, she did leave me unsupervised.

Thanks.  Its got no worse the last two days and I'm off home tomorrow so hopefully it'll hang in there one more day!

Had two near misses recently, with cars pulling out and braking at the last moment... So I decided to fit some extra lights to be seen.

So I bought some very bright Cree LED units off eBay, designed and 3D printed some 3 axis mounts to suit my Givi engine bars. Wired everything in this afternoon, switch on the handlebars, relay off the ignition and Hello presto! Miss me now you blind bats  :icon_batterup:

Those brackets look excellent! I love it when people make well made bits for their bikes at home. Well done!

Thanks tallpaul. There are some great lights on eBay but the brackets are shocking... At least these fit, adjust and by luck match the colour of my bike  :)

Those look just the job  :thumb:

I’ll be after some LED lights soon, which model did you order off eBay? Would you be interested in selling some more of your home made brackets ?

https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-12V-60V-Universal-Motorcycle-Motorbike-LED-Front-Spot-Light-Headlight-Lamp-HD/142357782981?epid=794168765&hash=item21252f61c5%3Ag%3Apb4AAOSwxupbFfqH&_mwBanner=1&_nkw=Motorbike+led+spot+lights&rt=nc

Possibly the cheapest LED lights on Ebay, but actually not badly made. The main body which acts as a heat sink is an aluminum extrusion. The lens unscrews, so my advice would be to silicone the lens cap and the internal bore where the wires come out. Once sealed they feel very robust and look far more expensive than they are.

It may be a bit premature to make more brackets just yet. I have only covered a few hundred miles, although solid I would like to run them for a week or so (so another 600 miles), see how they are and if needs be make any mods. The printer takes about 8 hours to run off a pair, so if all good I can make some next week  :text-woo:

Yesterday I went on Ride of Honour 2018 from Squires Café to Withernsea by back roads. Good day out, albeit it was far too hot - not so bad at speed, but no good in slow traffic (the Glee temperature gauge showed an optimistic(?) 32°C at one point).

Not as many bikes there this year - I think it was the lowest number I've seen in the 8 years it's been running, maybe down to the World Cup Final or Wimbledon final?
I did see one orange Wee/Vee but didn't get chance to say hello.

Here's some pictures:
The bottom one is my brother's bike - had a quick run on it along the M62 - not too bad but I won't be trading the Glee which is far more comfortable over distance (3 fuel ups on the run out - the Glee did it all on one tank and still has fuel to spare)

Thanks for the link to the lights Graingerblaze, bargain ! Good tip about sealing them too. No rush for the brackets, my Strom is still in the Suzuki shop, picking her up at the weekend . Let us know how you get on with them, thanks again  :thumb:

Nice pictures, shame that the numbers were down. I want to do the Ride to the wall one year. Good that you and many others honoured these true hero's, not these sportsman/women who think they are.

I caught the tail end of those chaps as we were driving to Brayton. What I saw was well marshalled but there were a couple of participants taking liberties with their overtaking! Braver than I am...

Yee haw, that's great news Graham. It'll be good to catch up again, I'll be joining the A1 at Warmsworth about 8ish then meeting Brockett at his overnight residence in Darrington.
