Yesterday, fitted HEL dual brake lines, EBC HH Sintered pads and a radiator guard... not a bad mornings work, but ran out of time to wire in an aux port and properly wire the heated grips to the aux fuse box... Want to take the fuel tank off to properly route the cables, but it'll do for now!

Yesterday 30th I took the Wee 45 miles under glorious sunshine to my wife's house. Topping up en-route and adding a drop of petrol preserver. She wasn't in. Perfect! Phoned her, no answer.  I got the Burgman out of the garage and put the Wee in and connected the Optimate. Had a coffee and tried to entice the cat back in. It continued to sit on the step looking in the patio door until I opened it whereupon it ran up the garden. I rode home again in warm sun and I didn't  use the heated grips nor even the heated saddle. Topped up and added preserver and stowed it in my garage. Probably won't get out again before April.  Only 90 miles but I don't ride much in the winter so it's nice to get out on what was an unexpectedly warm, drying, bright day.

Installed LED H7 for LO Beam from Cyclops. Tested it a lot at night and it's a keeper.

Having cleaned the brakes yesterday (the pistons were covered in crap and slightly binding, and the clutch side slider pins were slightly seized), and cleaned & reapplied ACF50 to the bike, I actually rode it today. It was only a short trip to town in the rain to get my glasses fixed, but was good to get out again.

My new bearing removal tool arrived today, so I thought I'd try it out... to begin with I worried I may have just wasted £35 as the buggers wouldn't budge from the front wheel. I was just about to give up when I thought I'd have one last go, and ta daa (piccy below). Turns out it was user error, namely I hadn't spread the bearing extractor wide enough :shy:

The tool works well for removing the bearings - I used the slide hammer. Takes a bit of effort, but extracts the bearings cleanly with no risk of damaging the hub  :thumb:

The bearings themselves didn't look too bad for 37,000+ miles, but I thought I'd be proactive and replace now whilst I have a few days off & the weather's pants. Just need to install the new ones tomorrow, starting with the clutch lever (left) side  :fix:

Fitted Barbacks.

£76 from BykeBitz. Phoned yesterday before ordering to check availability and there was one set left on shelf. Arrived today, free delivery, excellent. Bit pricey I suppose, cheaper types on ebay etc. but SW Motech are quality.

Had to nip to work to get a 32mm 1/2" socket to remove the steering stem top cap nut.

Rerouted the clutch cable and electrical cables on both sides behind the top triple tree. Brake hose just about long enough, but only just. Had to remove the securing clip on the lower tree but hose doesn't appear stressed in any way at full lock. Will modify the original steel clip sometime and refit in place of cable tie. Bars swing freely both ways.

Not ridden it yet, finished about 9pm. Took about three unhurried hours in total. Test ride in morning.

Over the festive period, fitted bar end mirrors and a phone holder thingy ( fitted a 12V socket last summer ).
Ended up using one of the mirror mount extensions as weird thread on mirror mount ( UNC or metric fine I reckon? )

Just top box to fit when weather has improved and ready for action.
(This year I hope to at least double the 2000 miles that are currently on the clock  :grin:)

This is the one I bought - it was the cheapest 16 piece extractor set one on ebay- there was a 5 piece one for £20 but I wasn't convinced the largest supplied bearing extractor would do the sprocket carrier bearing. Ordered on 29 Dec and arrived today from London.

First thing - Thanks very much for the link and the video.  :clap:
The link took me to the supplier but the supplier was unable to accept a payment so maybe they've sold out. :icon_exclaim: I got what looks like the same product from a different supplier for a few pennies more. It looks to be just the job to enable wheel bearings to be removed without damage to hub or even the bearings. I may get away with inspection and re-grease.  Although my wee is low mileage it is over eight years old and may have little effective  lubrication left. In any case it'll give me something to fiddle with in garage. :smirk:

I think you're right about being able to repack the bearings- mine looked fine, but I'd already bought replacements so I just used them.

Installed the new bearings on the front wheel today, using the old bearings to drive them in. The tool made it really easy to extract the old ones once they were seated.

Went for a quick spin on the bike, seems to roll very smoothly. I'm putting it down to cleaning the brakes/brake discs and recommend everyone do it especially if riding this time of year as you don't realise how much they bind.

MoT done! and a pass. Always surprises me that last year I had an advisory (play on top rear suspension bush) rode another 10000 miles and carried out basic maintenance, an oil change and I washed it once and the bush has mysteriously fixed its self.

Never mind, time to get riding again and maybe I will wash it again.......

Installed Windscreen deflector and mirror extenders. I'm very curious if it will help with wind buffeting. Definitely extenders give much better view in mirrors, almost like panoramic :)

My Glee came back from service slightly overfilled with oil so spent an hour syphoning the extra off which worked surprisingly well using some thin plastic tubing through the oil filler hole.
Ran out of daylight so will have to do the crazy run for three minutes sit for three minutes level check tomorrow.

Got out for a ride around the Lincolnshire wolds today for the first time since Christmas, and the first ride with my new fork brace fitted, wow what a difference. Just need to get some new tyres on and we are all set for summer :thumb: :lala:

Finally got round to fitting a top box (RYDE 52L) this afternoon / evening.   
Fitted fairly well onto the standard rack, just needed a few different shorter length bolts / grommets here and there.
Looks OK too.  :lala:
