Yes.

56mpg was my worst, that was when I rode it pretty hard to and from work to see how bad it could get (A31, M27, M3 - Corfe Mullen to Basingstoke), that said, because of traffic I could only abuse the speed limit for around a third of the journey, the rest of the time I am travelling at the prevailing speed of the traffic or filtering.

This morning, with a full tank, I started a two day test of careful riding to see what effect it would have on the time it takes to get to/from work compared to mpg. So today/tomorrow I am riding at a maximum indicated speed of 75, only moderate acceleration, with some short spurts of 85 simply for overtakes of vehicles travelling slower than my 75 cruising speed. My guess is there will only be a 3 or 4 minute difference in travel time.

My last refuel was 61.9, and that was riding around 80-85 indicated where it was possible.

It won't be completely accurate as there are always small differences in brimming the tank (I want to make sure I can do two round trips without refuelling).

Probably more accurate to do it over 2 weeks rather than 2 days. We digress

I'm not sure I could be that well behaved for two weeks . It takes a concerted effort not to let the speed creep up, but these little diversions make an otherwise boring trip, interesting.

I've just realised maybe why I can't get more than 55mpg out of mine, despite riding it as an experiment a couple of times to get the best I could: I was riding too slow! I was thinking like a car driver with speeds of about 55-60 mph, you know those figures the car adverts come up with?! Damn!

Right - next time!
