Givi Touring Screen
« on: May 29, 2011, 11:31:34 »
Givi touring screen, is fitted on my Wee.

How have others found this?

I have only just got my bike (an 2008 650 with 11,000 miles on).

My impression is that the screen is as big as one could sensibly have, without being silly.

The screen keeps me snug and the wind blast is almost zero. I can snug down behind it and the wind blast is negated big time. I still have the original Suzuki screen and at this point in time, don't plan to fit it. On a style point of view the OE screen DOES look better, but the comfort from the Givi gives me 100% satisfaction.

Any drawbacks?

I would try the standard screen for day, compare and contrast - then you'll know for sure, just a 5 minute job, literally  :thumb:

Well I wouldn't post if I didn't want a comment would I? From people who have the Giv touring screen preferably :shy:  We're on a biker site, with a thread dedicated to screens  :sarc:

Having had the bike for just over a week, longer term owners may add a comment or two ideally.

So far the screen is good and I have no complaints, but from memory I had an old Kawasaki GT 550 which had a sail of a fairing on it and one day in a car park an eddy of wind caught it and toppled it over. I was not a happy bunny as the whole side of the tank was caved in!!!!

bigger screen might reduce your mpg, but if you're happy with it on, I don't see any reason to change it.

I have one of these that I use in combination with a Madstad for the winter months. It gives good weather protection, but it is very affected by wind. It reduces my MPG figures a bit, but in the winter I can live with that for the weather protection. Come summer I change to the standard screen with the Madstad and then the standard screen looks tiny.

I have just fitted a Givi touring screen on my Vee and also have Madstads fitted. After a 630 mile blast to Wales (motorways, A roads and B roads) I think that I am happy with it. Not tall enough for me to get behind and under it but tall enough to ride at a fair rate with the visor up and Queen hearable in the headset.

Yes, I've put the OE screen on for the summer and if I have a long ride or come the autumn bad weather I'll revert to the Givi.

To be fair the stock screen is quite good and does its job well IMHO.
