I have Tourances on my 650. After going through the Trailwing and Bridgestone BT020's I find these tyres brilliant.

The bike feels like it is on rails even at speed. I do 47miles each way to work and back Mon-Fri in all conditions, this is A-road and Motorway. The grip has never let me down. They seem to be very long lasting aswell. I have done nearly 3000 miles on them and they aren't even showing signs of wear.
Can't tell you about off-road but the blokes on VSRI rate them highly. (Check out the link below)

have a tourance on the rear, over 1000 miles on it in the past couple of weeks now. It rules compared to those trailwing things.

Tourance going on the front at the weekend as well.

similar story, 37 mile each way every day commute, on 1/4 back roads, 1/2 A1  and 1/4 in town. Tyre rocks, bike is rock solid.

Also a vast improvement offroad.

I've always like Metzeler tyres, whatever bikes I've owned.

I am a tyrist, I will never put a bridgestone tyre on any motorcycle I own.

Oh, and see my post about punctures, the tourance takes a puncture well too

that's a great price for a set, thanks, cos I'm ordering a pair while they are that cheap.

I've got Tourances on my strom.  I've done about 7000 miles since buying it off Andy.  I've had to put a new rear on, but the front is still going strong and I suspect it will last until I have to replace the rear.

I havent been "off road" yet but have been down slimey lanes, mud, grit and the like and its been brilliant - no wobbles.  Far more confidence in this bike with these tyres than when I rode my CBR with Bridgestones BT021s.

I totally recommend them.

I've had them on two bikes I bought and thought they were poo, took them off ASAP. Very slow turn in and way too twitchy in the wet for my liking. Everyone to their own however

Yep, for most of us there's not a lot between tyres, and I reckon that bad tyres are the stand out's. I mean, really, those trailwing things , they are insane.

It's wierd 2112, cos I'd actually put a trailwing on the bike before I'd put a distanzia on it, but you'd have fits at my tourance, like you say, each to his own, and since it's mostly in your brain (the important bit when riding a bike anyway) , then if you think a tyre is crap then it will be. It's a good point, what each rider 'feels' (or think they feel) varies from rider to rider, bike to bike. I personally like a tyre to give me a quick turn in which I find the Tourances and Michelins don't. I've tried the Pirelli Scorpions and found them wanting too, decent turn in but vague and very little grip towards max lean angle. Conti Escape's weren't too bad but mine developed a funny wear pattern where a 'ridge' formed off centre on both sides causing  the bike to weave in long sweepers, really odd. So I'm kind of stuck with the Avon's, good grip in the dry and good feel in the wet, they work great on gravel and general road detritous and seem to take pot holes in their stride, so I'll not be going to a 'street' tyre just yet. But it doesn't matter what tyre you use so long as you're 'out there'

I've had a couple of sets Bridgestones on my ZZR (BT 020's & 021's)and was aiming to fit them on the Strom, but after reading much about peoples preferences and experiences I know don't know. The Bridgies' are tending to get a tad expensive and as I know there's not an 021 fitment for the front on the Vee, was inclined not to mix a  020 front & 021 rear, I've just seen these on the M&P site and tempted by reputation and price.

I'm not really after a chunky off road capable tyre for the Vee, as I don't intentionally go there, I really need an all round / touring tyre and am also looking for a new set of rubber for the ZZR in a few weeks.

Anyone used them, either on a large sports tourer or Vee, any views good or bad?

Eric I know the metzelers etc look knobbly but they'll give as good grip in all conditions and will last a hell of a lot longer ;)

Just ridden down the A1 and some back roads, horrific traffic cos of Bank Hol, and absolute stair rods of rain.
Couldn't see a thing for rain and crap.

Front end (balding trailwing) was all over the place.
Rear end (newish and repaired tourance) planted. Not a slip slide, nothing. In fact, I was using my back brake hard, and it felt great.

Ordered a front (won't get it till next Friday) , then I will be going mental in the wet as well I reckon (well, as mental as I get, which is very unmental really)

I still maintain that most of us will notice a crap tyre more than we'll notice a good one.

I agree, my mate recently purchased an old GPz 500 (£190) with a pair of brand new 'Kings' tyres fitted (chinese), he lost the front twice and the back once in the three miles home, in the dry !!! The bike was sold with some minor fettling a week later for £350 and solemn vow never to use cheapo tyres, EVER !

Tourance front and rear now. The bike feels sooo stable compared to those deathwing things.
Also, the bike is incredibly flickable and gives great feedback from the front and rear now.

I'm sure there are better tyres, but for what I want/do with my bike, these are grand

Got a Tourance on the back and was instantly impressed with how it behaved. Just Got to get the front sorted now.
Funny though the fronts were out of stock when I had the back done.

Has anyone tried metzeler Z6 sport touring tyres on their strom?

Just noticed they make them to fit and they cost less than 020's

I have always rated Metzeler very highly. They grip and they last. Which is probably the the holy grail of bike rubber?

I had the tourance on my gs, and thought they were great, good to see they do as well on the strom and hi fellow legion rider!

just bought a simlar deal but from J and S accessories ltd on line, tyres arrived v quickly, if you've never used tourances be prepared for differant characteristics of ride. I was quite shocked at the differance in turn in (sooner the than the deathwings I had on) got used to it after a couple of trips on the twisties. its all suck it and see stuff buddy.. enjoy and ride safe

Personally I don't like the metzelers had them before the anakees and never really had any confidence in them at speed there just not grippy enough on the road.
