800RE Screen enfanglement

Been trying to sort out my 800RE's screen woes. Standard was just too noisy, even with ear plugs. Standard with a deflector thingy was better but still not great. Tried raising (and lowering) it with an AliExpress bracket https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007712493775.html?. Also bought a cheapish Aliexpress screen jobby https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009812018198.html? (iirc it was about 35 quid, is 46cm tall and took about a week to arrive). Again, an incremental improvement. This one is too narrow at the top to take the same deflector but I had a wee one on a shelf so popped that on and again better.
On my 650 I'd used a multi-screen arrangement touring Spain and Portugal so thought I'd have a play about with the two screens I now have. Many big bolts and rubber spacers later trying to get some angle and some air up between the screens, arrived at this solution. Tested and working well up to an indicated 90 (on a private test track, obviously).
Probably should have just bought an Airflow but they are pricey and didn't get on with mine on the 650 (found it made the front end a little skittish at speed).

If it works, it works! 
Don't forget the mirrors can make a bit of difference & fitting extenders to mine helped a little bit. Plus your helmet can be a problem. Try filling the void around the neck with a scarf or similar & keep your visor closed. Not saying it will help any more but always worth a try.

Well done, perseverance paid off by the sounds of it. 
I believe although the Givi Airflow works well on many bikes, it's not meant to be that great on the 800.
I initially tried the Puig 2.0 deflector on top of the standard screen and thought it worked if the wind was coming straight towards me: any side winds made it feel like there was literally no screen in front of me.  I assume the standard screen is tapered to accommodate the handlebar handguards on full lock.
So in the end I went with the somewhat expensive Powerbronze Powerblade, which effectively comes with three different sized screens covering all seasons and a sliding mechanism that offers great adjustability: up & down by about 100mm, and tilts back up to about 30mm.
Seems to work well (for me at least) but given the price only worth it if you intend to keep the bike quite a few years.

I put 20mm spacers at the bottom of my screen to angle the top in towards me a bit more. Standard 800RE screen, highest setting. Made quite an improvement to buffeting for just a few quid.

Perhaps I'm odd but I don't want a completely still airflow behind the screen. It might be down to me being so used to naked bikes but without air getting into my helmet vents I get too hot...

You have all seen my low screen / Madstad on my 650 , I am tended to that size screen . Mostly for the quiet ( Fecked left ear , as Sir Trev said , nekked bikes ARE the quietest  ) and screens tall enough to cover my 6 foot 4 seem to make fast turn in harder 
But Micks post is echoing the one mod that made the most difference for me , ie my gear not the bike 
Quiet well fitting helmet , silk balaclava worn all year round , like "wicking" base layers keeps you cool too , though a helmet with good venting is key , especially when using the below .

And finally a long scarf  wrapped round that , blessed quiet ...relatively.

Oh ....and good leathers rather than textiles ( I have both , but keep the textiles for the CRF , as it is SLOW  )....the lack of " flap " at speed is definitely a thing with noise and buffetry  , It is most apparent when putting wet gear over the leathers ...who turned up the volume...
