Screen and Frelon
« on: June 30, 2017, 22:09:31 »
Had issues with screens on a number of bikes, none have been found to work well except Givi Aiflow, you can see why it works, holding your hand above screen there is a tremendous gale heading skywards. One little or not so issue. Tend to ride with visor open ''tis that good" noticed insects can be thrown I think between screens into your helmet Now a cautionary tale sister in Bordeaux had chimney sweept only to hear the cry Frelon, Frelon!!! These are hornet size wasps imported by some prat from Asia they have killed 6 in France have a look on the web. Noticed loads of Hardly Dangerouses with open helmets and glasses well a Frelon in the helmet would not be good at all!! Beware

Don't get open visor riders, it takes one fly or bigger insect and you can suffer eye damage... trying to stay upright after eye hit can be a challenge too.

Many years ago when I was in my teens, the choice of bike for me and my friends was either XT500 or XL500 and of course we rode these with open faced MX type lids, one balmy evening I was riding to our local fishing lakes for a spot of night fishing, when a Dragon fly flew straight at me and hit me between the eyes.
The force was hard enough to put me in a daze and cause my eyes to water, resulting in me running off the road and into bushes, luckily I got away without injury, but the bike was a bit beat up.

don't know why, but my mates thought it was hilarious  :GRR:

They're not the only ones  lol lol (only joking and glad you were OK).

Have had a bug hit me in the face at speed on several occasions and I swear I thought I'd been shot... still ride with my visor open though so obviously not learned my lesson    lol

Usually open visor on Katie, but always wear glasses of some description either sunglasses during the day or yellow safety specs as the light fades.
