Engine RPM @ 60 & 70 MPH
« on: July 09, 2013, 15:29:04 »
Hi,

Can anybody tell me what the engine rpm is under the following conditions for a K4/K5/K6 Wee?

60 MPH Indicated on Speedo
70 MPH Indicated on Speedo
6th Gear
Assuming Standard Sprockets

Cheers,

Kris

Well 5k revs is an indicated 68mph, you can work it out from there. However, 68mph on the speedo is not 68 mph on the road, probably around 62 or 63mph.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

You can check any numbers you want at http://www.gearingcommander.com/ and even do sprocket changes. Just be aware the numbers are based on the stock instrumentation so indicated speeds are shown whereas actual speeds will be about 8% lower.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s
