Slipscreenwales.
« on: November 17, 2010, 14:11:51 »
Having spent a pile fitting bits to the bike since I got it in July including Madstat and not being very happy with the OEM screen would have liked to try the various screens that get recommended on here. Saw this screen on Ebay at £35.99 including postage offering extra height and width thought I'd try that. The fit was okay except the 2 black plastic trim things that come with the standard screen but managed to get 'em on and Got to say I'm happy with it. No more helmet rattle. At its highest I can look through and adjusted so I'm just looking over the top its great. Wound up the speed ( it was a fair lick, say no more :eusa-whistle: ) and all was calm, it'll do me grand for the winter. Anyone wanting a bigger screen but short of funds I reckon its a good buy.

He also does headlight protectors for £15 - been thinking about one myself.

Sven has kindly given the link. He gives 3 pictures on the ebay site one of which shows the OEM screen marked out on his screen so you can see the difference in size. Will try to take a couple of pics later if folk want to see one mounted.

Recieved the Headlight Protectors from cgi today. I ordered them as in the past I have suffered the expense of a cracked headlight. I don't do much riding after dark, so ordered the "Clear" type as I intend leaving them on permantly.  I have not tried them in the dark yet, but they don't look like they will distort the lights much. You can remove them, as they are supplied with velcro type stickers allready stuck in place.  The glue on the stickers seems pretty strong, so you only get one chance to get them on straight. The perspex seems of reasonable quality & thickness. The profile / fit is good. I have seen headlight protectors advertised for £40, so on that basis they are good value (£14.99).

Did you ever take the pics? Any chance of posting them?

Which size did you go for - max?

Thinking about a bigger screen now that my DL1000 seat makes me a little higher.

Hi Simon, went out of my mind, have had the cover on the bike last couple of days but will try soon as it warms a little or the sun shows itself. Can say though' that am pleased with it, I got the full size, and it now allows me so much adjustment. Was in some rain with it full up and not a drop on me or my arms, buffeting stopped. It did mean I was peering through it and had to really raise my head to see over. I'm 5'9". All I can say is I'm happy and seem to b e a few quids in compared to the price of other recommended screens.

Thanks. Look forward to the pictures at some point, if the weather ever gets better. Tempted by one of these as they're so cheap and I'm fed up with my eyeballs rattling at 70!

Still no chance of getting the cover off the bike, 2 foot of snow on it, but if ever the sun returns will get the camera out. I'd say if your still mindful to get a screen go ahead and get the slipscreen, I really can't say that I can fault it in any way so for the price I feel like a winner.

I looked a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't find them on ebay. He's still selling the headlight protectors but not the screens. Might be worth an e-mail to him to see what's happened.
