Very true what the man says but he takes a long time getting to the point, I suspect a lot of people who take the time to start watching don't watch to the end.

I think most governments don't even think about motorcyclists as people, people who vote for them or not and we do have to draw their attention to us but sadly the only attention we seem to draw is accident statistics and loud pipes.

I don't know how MAG can draw more attention to themselves or the protests they organise. I would attend but, as I'm not a member, I never get to hear about them. Maybe more information on internet forums like ours would work?

I don't think bikes will ever be fazed out, look at the Isle of Man TT, I'll bet there are a lot of people who would like to stop it but know that if they tried there would be riots from millions of bikers. If bikers ever get to the point where there is a dramatic change that threatens us directly and suddenly then we will stand up and make a lot of noise, I for one would make it my mission to make it as hard as possible for politicians to procced.

I'm more than happy to provide information on a regular basis, as long as it doesn't tread on anybody's toes, and the moderator's don't mind me doing it.

I know they're not everyone's cup of tea, I've been a member for over 40 years now, and I will never agree with their stance on the helmet law, but I respect that everyone is, and should always be entitled to their opinion.
I think you'll enjoy the Road Magazine, I've written a few letters and won about 5 sets of tyres to date.
Good on you for taking the plunge.

I breifly joined MAG some 38 (ish) years ago while they were recruiting new members up Westgate Road in Newcastle (ALL the bike shops in Newcastle used to be on the one street, an amazing place, now a shadow of it's former self...). It was good for a couple of years and then it went a bit sour, Ian Mutch was president/charmain and it seemed to lose focus and direction. I got dissilusioned and left, along with all of my friends who had joined at the same time. Flogging the dead horse of the helmet law was a waste of time & (my) money. MAG seems to be much better now and I wish them every success going forwards, but once bitten...
