750 horsepower family saloon ?
« on: July 12, 2025, 13:08:22 »
MG have a new all leccy 'family' saloon, the IM5 on the way to the UK with 751 hp & 802NM of torque! This gives it a barking 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds! It gets better, a 441 mile range (that'll work out to be around 380 miles in real terms - still impressive) and ultra fast charging 10% to 80% in 17 minuets. They also have an SUV version, the IM6 with similar figures. Impressive. Link to the respective MG UK websites below -

I don't like E Vehicles but I wouldn't want a MG in any shape or form, they have got to be right up there with the most unreliable cars on the planet. I have never owned an MG and only driven a few but a friend was buying one a few years ago and I read up on them.

Got to say that the BHP and range of this one looks impressive but who needs that much power in a car? I can understand it on a motorbike.  :thumb:

Both models are about £50k (according to the website), more than twice the cost of my current Skoda Fabia which does 60 mpg on a run.🤷‍♂️

I had an MG5 EV for three years and the only thing that went wrong with it was the 12v battery died. Appart from two punctures (and you can hardly blame MG for that) it was as good as gold. They do have more than their fare share of niggles but mine was fine. Mind you, compared to a Range Rover they are fault free!
