I recently purchased two Schuberth E1 helmets for my Wife and myself. I also fitted them with SC10U units for Intercom and GPS purposes. They work fine with the GPS but the intercom is a disaster.

The main issue is the mic is picking up background wind noise from the vents in the front of the helmets. It is really really loud to the point that for me as a rider it is a serious distraction. I am on the verge of giving them back but if anyone has any hints or tips as to how to fix this I would appreciate hearing from them. I have tried various and many settings and at best have only managed to reduce the noise slightly.

I'm guessing you've already played with sidetone, advanced noise control and hd intercom settings?
Does your wife experience the same issue? If not, you may have a dodgy unit.
I've a 20s which I have used with the flip of my Neotec open and shut, and can still talk without the wind being a problem for the other user. Do you have any different sponges to try on the microphones? Is it possible to re-site them a bit more out of the draught?

Quote removed.

Guessed correctly. Various and many settings have been used to no real avail. Turning off HD intercom lessens the din somewhat but doesn't sort it.

Further investigation this afternoon shows that the mic body is actually touching the flip front trim when it is locked in position. That is a possible cause where the trim is transmitting helmet noise direct to the mic. I will be following up with the shop tomorrow. Thanks for your input

Is the Mic facing the right way round? If memory serves there is a back and front to it.

Edit: The side with the hole in should face your mouth

Again thanks for the input. However this unit has a fixed mic/switch unit fixed close to the cheek pad on the left. It is accordingly correctly oriented by default.

However after a visit to the shop today,  for the second time this year my Schuberth helmet has been returned to germany although this time it is because of the Sena issues. However because the problem is difficult to pin down to one unit my Wife's Touratech Helmet (also a Schuberth) has gone with it.

It will be interesting to see how long this takes. Last time my helmet was gone for four weeks. Back to the old C3's then. Just as well I kept them :(.

The Shop decided to send only the Units back to the factory in the end so thankfully at least we have our helmets back. No issue with the shop in this matter. My beef is only with Schuberth/Sena because of the seriously expensive cost as against the poor quality of some aspects of components.

I will post further on the outcome in due course.

Final update on this issue. The Sena units have been gone for six weeks. Nothing back from Sena one way or another so I have no idea what the problem was. I am told by the shop that the last they heard the units had gone back to Germany. The Shop has decided to refund my money and I have ordered a Cardo Packtalk Duo from them as a replacement. Needless to say this is very poor customer service from Sena/Schuberth.

Indeed. I had always been of the opinion that Sena were the tops.
