Aftermarket Mirrors
« on: April 29, 2016, 07:39:22 »
Hi all,

I've just been trawling through past posts re aftermarket mirrors and it seems that Aprilia Tuono mirrors are generally well regarded as fitting on the Glee and giving less buffet. Any specific ones as there are several versions out there for different Tuonos?

Are mirror extenders also necessary? Do they decrease buffeting even more or just give a better view?

Either of these suitable please?

Hello,

The post below this one gives a link to a fairly cheapy set that quite a few people have been buying.

Thanks Moo. I did see that thread but it looks like people have mixed experiences there. If paying £15 or £18 gets better mirrors than paying £11 I'd happily pay the extra. I'm just not sure what exactly I should be looking for! Presumably 10 x 1.25mm is correct?

I have the 2nd ones you listed, the more expensive option. Excellent quality, I'd recommend extenders as well.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I could be wrong but I reckon that most of the mirrors out there that look identical are in fact all made in the same factory and then sold by various sellers on ebay with different mark ups. Up to you if you want to pay £15 but I'd wager you get the exact same mirrors as I got for £11. What's more, the £15 ones you linked to are located in the Netherlands whereas the £11 ones are in the UK which might mean faster delivery.

TLPower - do they make much of a difference to buffeting?

I'm sure they did. My 'bike is an ancient Cagiva Navigator, it had the same barn door mirrors as the Strom. The extenders give a better view of what's behind rather than my elbows...

Mine arrived yesterday and I fitted them immediately without extenders. I can see 180 degrees behind me and they are quite sturdy. I have only done a short burst of about 70mph and extended 60 mph runs and the mirrors held their own just like the other two pairs that I had on the other two vees that I owned.

I am happy  :)
