Heated grip connector location
« on: April 17, 2014, 21:24:03 »
Hello blokes, I know this discussed several times already but after googling the location of the heated grip connector I have just spent two frustrating hours in the garage and now I am totally pi**sed off.
It would appear it is on the LHS but I was looking on the RHS under the inner cockpit panel.
Can someone please tell in detail where it is as I can't find it and after trying the connector v-strom member PETSTEP sent me on the RHS I just assumed he cut the existing connector off and used the new one. I tried to use the dummy plug and wedge in the female clip but to no avail so now I have cut off the rings from the heated grip battery leads I can either:
Get some new rings and reattach to the battery
Or
Get another new connector and try again!

OK to laugh now at today's clown but some of the great advice everybody gives would be greatly appreciated !!! ( did try and view photos on stromtroopers but as I am not a member I could not open them )

Since 2001, the list is a bit too long and has certainly been expensive!!! BMW F650FL, SV650SK1, CBR600F1, Harley XL53 Custom, VFR800 V-tec, XT660X, SV1000SK2, GSXR750K5, Z1000BF7, CBR600RR7, CBR600RR10, CBR600FAB, YZF750R and finally the best? DL650 AL3. Well the bike fund is non existent so thankfully the Glee ticks more boxes than not!

Left hand side behind radiator.  Look for white connector with a bit of tape on. Near the cooling fan if memory serves me right. These cables have only small conductor cores so connecting onto them without the plug may not be easy. Eastern beaver do a good connector. Think another member linked to an eBay listing a few days ago for a connector.

Silly question.... Are you trying to view it from a smart device? .... I had the same problem and could only view it on my laptop.

Thanks Holmsey, you're a :star:

It could be that I use my ipad which to be honest certainly has its draw backs doing simple tasks that a PC can do with ease.

Round 2 in the garage / on the driveway doing the connector after work this afternoon ! :fix:

Thanks again, it's great how obliging everyone is on here.
Cheers

Fellow bikers, when fitting the heated grips, I have pulled off the throttle side original grip rubber.
Underneath is the throttle plastic tube. This has a raised plastic ring round it on the end, have you shaved this ring off or what.??
Looks to me the heated grip won't go on with the ring in place.
Thanks

:ty:   Stanley knife it is then.

I seem to recall there is a pre- made connector lead made by someone with a terminal block on it.
