:) I thought you were going to go with 'option 4' in answer to all those questions Andy!

Life is too short to spend a minute longer than absolutely necessary working in any job, and certainly not in one that you don't enjoy. Now that I've had paid off my mortgage, I do as little as I can get away with, without lowering the standards to which I've become accustomed.

What he said :D

The last job I had before I threw in the towel and spunked my house deposit on this degree nearly drove me to a breakdown. Any job where you look forward to the 5 minutes you get for lunch as chance to nip off for a cry in the bogs is not worth doing.

Never burn bridges...

A couple of years ago, I bumped into an ex-manager who I hated - a PITA to work for and we had regular arguments. I hadn't worked for him for several years but I had always pretended to like him - on this occasion, he had a job opportunity in his new company and he wanted to know if I was interested? I went for the interview and even though I wasn't really good enough for the job (and the bloke who interviewed me told my ex-boss this), he still hired me. I left that company only a year later but with a new skill set that has kept me going ever since and should hopefully keep me going until retirement now - wouldn't have had any of that if I'd told him what I really thought about him all those years ago  :shy:

I'll say again - never burn your bridges....you never know...

True. Never kick the arse today, as you may have to kiss it tomorrow!

don't let your kids learn media studies.

How true, my mate's son signed up for this last year, he's enjoying the course (as it's not much work and you have to watch films and play video games - true!), but get's a bit coy when it comes to talk of employment. My last conversation with the yoof seemed to confirm that only around 1 in 6 students get any sort of job in media, the rest go on to ask you if you want to go large for an extra 40p *...

( *or whatever value it is to go large these days)

A friend of mine did Meedyuh at uni and was very smug to get a job at the Dept of Culture, Media and Sport...

... so of course I keep referring to his workplace as 'Arts and Darts'.

I think it's a reference to becoming a five star General at McDonald's!
