Hi blokes
like many others, I have some buffeting problems with my Wee Strom. I am not bothered about the wind as I am used to naked bikes. What annoys me is the head vibration. I noticed because I could not read the road signs properly. When I tuck down beyond the screen, I can read them fine.
So I decided to get a taller screen. Has anybody mounted a Fabbri Touring Screen? You can see it here: http://www.intobikes.co.uk/products/003 ... st&sd=DESC (http://www.intobikes.co.uk/products/003252/007878/F.Fabbri_Naked_Screen_suitable_for_Suzuki_V-Strom_650GT_2010?bf=1&rg=12&sg=OR&sf=latest&sd=DESC)
It looks good (Italians know how to design things!) but I would like to know if it reduces buffeting. I am 5.11"
Cheers

That's the first time I've seen the Fabbri - looks quite similar to the stock screen though...
-
The dimensions are HxL 450x415mm
Do you know dimensions of the standard screen?
-
The stock screen is 390 tall x 380 wide, well, mine is anyway.
Willthe Fabbri clear the handguards? To be frank, I'd try the 'secret' 4th position and angling the screen back with spacers / washers under the lower fixings for the bracket first and see how you get on.
Plenty of other threads here, but the angle seems to be as important as the size of the screen..

I think you are right. I will give it a go. Did you try it? Does it look OK? If not, I will try the Fabbri. It is not too big and it looks quite good. Thanks for the suggestions anyway

Looks like a double bubble screen for the Strom, would be interesting to try it to compare against all the other's I've tried. Get the clear one if you do, the tint can make it difficult to see if you need to see the road close to you when you're going slow.

thanks for the suggestion. Tinted it looks great, but I prefer visibility. If I was into good looking bikes, I would not have bought the Wee-Strom anyway :-) I am for substance

This is mine with the standard screen on the high high not in the manual (two empty holes poking out the top) position.

It keeps the wind of great, but I do have to stick my head out sideways to clear rain off the visor.

Thanks. I changed the screen position earlier as you blokes suggested, but I have not had the chance to drive the bike. I will test it tomorrow or sunday.
On another issue: I noticed you have a rack on the Suzuki (I guess) top box. Where did you buy it?
Cheers

That's a Givi/Kappy top box, notice the black Monokey mounting plate below it. It will probably be the rack Givi/Kappa sell for the box. Looks a bit like a V46 box? I could be wrong :)

Spot on. :thumb: Givi 46 it is. I just looked on ebay for the rack. I did have to change the mounting bolts for longer ones, and set a number of washers under the mounts to raise the rack away from the box (it was touching in the middle). I wouldn't put too much weight on it though. I only really use it for a dry bag with sleeping bags, or other bulky light stuff. It's also useful for locking helmets to during stops.

thanks blokes. I will find out if I can fit it to the Suzuki Top Box. It is probably a Kappa box with Suzuki badge on it anyway. I will find out
Have a nice ride this weekend
