Title: summer boots
Post by: longman on February 26, 2011, 10:39:01
Hi
There is a lot of advice about warm and waterproof boots on this forum. What I am looking for is summer boots with good vents and comfort so I can keep them on for the whole day. I don't mind if they are not Waterproof as overall comfort in the summer is the main feature I am looking for. Thanks a lot.

I have a pair of sidi power ranger boots which I have had for the last 3 or so years very good boots with some air vents in the side but very comfortable when on all day and seem to wear well even though I don't do lots of walking in them there is still life in the soles for this year at least

You don't mention budget or style of boot required.

I wear Daytona Evo Sports Gore Tex - but there is a version which has no lining and is more summer orientated.

I have now worn Daytona for 12 years and would not wear anything else.  Advantages for me are that with large feet and a badly damaged ankle - Daytonas come in very small increments of sizes and a wide range of sizes up to I think UK15.

I also have a pair of Road Star GTX Daytonas, which after 110,000 miles are in need of a resole but are perfectly useable.

Be warned though, they are expensive but you will not have to replace them that often!!

Hi
Thanks for all the information. Basically I spend a lot of time in my boots. Sometimes o can't change them so at work I need to keep them on. Problem is boots are really hot. So I am looking for a well ventilated model good for walking as well. Budget around 200 pounds. Thanks

I have an old pair of Alpinestar GP tech boots. They're what the GP & Superbike racers were using about 12-14 years ago. Still use them in the summer - they're not waterproof at all but they do have an air vent across the front. Works very well for cooling in the hot weather, & they have a rubber strip to cover it up if needs be.
Don't think they make them anymore but might be worth a look at that type of boot
