what do I do I need a new front tyre asap and a trail wing is £74 fitted and the reat is about 40% left in tread I was told by the tyres man that I sould fit 020 road tyres and a pair is £210 fitted and they last 3 times longer and will handle better
I only use my DL650 for fun 100% road
is any of this true ?
what would you do?

you'll have difficulty getting a set of 020's, they've been discontinued and replaced with 021's which they currently don't do a front for the strom from what I hear. I can tell you they won't last 3 times as long, prob last less time than the trailwings because they are a softer compound (well technically dual compound) I liked them on my vfr but I prefer the trail type tyre on the strom and they seem to give as much grip (to me anyway)
have a good browse through the site, lots of stuff about tyres and different options available :)
Oh and personally I'd get the tyres from someone else, he sounds full of crap
-
so how many miles should I get from the trail wing tyres?
-
Really depends how you ride, I've seen people say anywhere between 8 and 14 thousand miles
-
3.5k out of my trail wings, the front is splitting and the rear had a nail in it!!
Get to test me road attacks out today, I hope!
-
My rear TW was replaced at 13564 miles
-
I'm on 7.5k on mine atm, still look in great shape; only just over a year old

Battlewings supersede the trailwings and much better grip however the Michelin Anakee 2 are the dogs furry bits from all accounts, and I'm 40 miles into mine from new and bloody hell they do increase the turn rate, feel great though.
