Title: Hello from Palm Springs, California in the USA
Post by: IntoTheMaelStrom on January 07, 2026, 07:36:13
I've had my new-to-me Strom for a couple of months and looking forward to discovering the collected wisdom of the fellow Stromers here!  In case you're curious, the reason it looks "sportier" is the bike has an after-market lower fairing by a now-defunct French company called JVM. I'm getting some used kit to make it a bit off-road friendly in a few days (engine guard, bash plate, radiator & oil cooler guards & some panniers and top box to boot). I'll post some new pics once she's been fitted out.

Welcome to the forum, she does look sporty.
You'll probably have to remove the lower fairing when you fit engine and sump guards.
They're such good bikes, congratulations on your purchase.

OK I give up, customising it is. Whatever that means in relation to fitting a bash plate and luggage. Pffffffftttttt. Who am I to question but a mere northern numpty.

Hi IntoTheMaelStrom and  :welcome2:. I've never seen the lower fairing that you have fitted to your bike before or the small colour matched box on the rear, to me they look very smart. Still, a V-Strom isn't meant to look like that and I look forward to some future pictures.  :auto-dirtbike: :thumb:

Upt, try "faffing" or "knackling" as English equivalents to the banned F word.
