Oddly enough, I watched that yesterday. Very interesting.

I didn't realise so many had been built, even though a third were prototype/test aircraft.
I noted that BA had accumulated the most hours, also really nice to know that only a few were scrapped, and the rest are museum aircraft.
That really was very interesting, but also quite sad.

Memories I have: I saw the second prototype arrive at Duxford days before the M10 carved through the runway trapping it forever at the Museum. In the early nineties I used to taxi folk from Cambridge down to Heathrow and depending on the time, usually mid morning, I watched Concorde take off for the States and in school holidays I took my son along for the spectacle at the public viewing area on a roof. :thumb:

I was at the Farnborough air show (on duty) when concord crashed. Before I knew what had happened I could tell that something very bad had happened, the aeroplane anoraks had found out already and the show suddenly seemed quiet and sad. I asked had something happened that I didn't know about and the sad news was told to me.
I lived in Windsor for 2 years and the concord would scare my little boy every time it flew over. Mankind went back in time when it went out of service, IMHO. :groan:

I recall riding down the A4 eastbound towards Harmondsworth one murky evening in the early 90s, thinking there was something wrong with my GSX250, only to realise the noise wasn't me. Two twin jets of flame suddenly appeared out of the mist at treetop level beside me as a Concorde lifted off from the North runway. Crazy sight.
Was also at a customer site on a trading estate off the western perimeter one weekday morning when I realised the whole telesales team had finished their calls and were just sitting about. When they realised I was looking at them all puzzled one said "any minute now". Then the building started to shake as the, clearly regular, daily departure thundered overhead. So loud!
As was the charter flight that shook me awake in my Slough flat at 7am one Sunday. It was the only time I ever heard it from there (was at work for the regular morning departure of course) hence assuming it was a charter, or a movement to go to a show perhaps. Amazing engineering for the era all the same, and a sad loss when they retired.

I think it was the early 90's, I was working for BT & was at EMA repairing phones. This was before security became a real issue & if access to the area we had to get to meant driving onto the 'airside' we were allowed to. One day I went through the gate to get onto the apron & and saw Concord parked up. I parked my little yellow Bedford HA van not too far from it.
I did have a photo that one of the customs lads took for me but I no longer know where it is.

In the early 90s a few of us went to a model show at Sandown park racecourse
And we had an amazing view of Concord after taking off from Heathrow I remember being in Awe of the pure power and sound.

I remember many years ago (possibly early 80s) when working in the Bristol area,I stayed in a hotel not far from the M5.It was dark when I checked in so couldn’t see much outside,but when I got up next morning and looked out of my room window,just over the road there was a Concorde backed up to what I am guessing was a test rig to run the engines into.Only ever saw it once more when it came over the Derby area and flew over the Rolls Royce aero engine works.

A bit more history involving the Concorde. I pass through the area every month, with less and less of the airfield and its history to see. They do have a Concorde under cover now, but for a good few years it was left out in the element’s.
