Title: VStrom 1000 with Black Widow Exhausts (for nigel s!)
Post by: Mep on September 29, 2025, 19:17:38
Following a request from nigel s for the sound of my Vstrom with Black Widow exhausts moving up and down through the gears I have created this video for your aural delight. At first you can hear them with the camera microphone at the side of the road, with some revving. I don't use this mic when riding due to wind noise, but it's a lovely sound, especially with headphones. Next up are 2 sort rides accelerating from a standing start and eventually slowing down. This is recorded, as usual, with a mic under the front of the seat.

Sounds good especially through the gear changes. I removed the baffle from my Yoshimura and although not loud it sounds similar, not too loud but deeper and it pops on the overrun. I bought it off a nice chap on this forum. I love it, it brings out the teenager in me.  Thanks for posting, it's music to my ears. :thumb:

Ta Mep,
Sounds sweet  :thumb:
Reminds me of my old KTM 990 with the open Akros.
For me it is not so much the volume of the sound , more the effect of a large capacity v twin pumping all that air , I would never get that from my 650  :) The same way a big ol' v8 will sound at tickover , not so much the volume then, more the promise of the violence to come..

Ho Hum
