Post by: Mark65 on August 28, 2025, 14:54:33
Hi,
Does everyone change there oil (fully synthetic) yearly even if they have only done 800 miles and the filter yearly as well (genuine Suzuki)
Thanks

Personally I generally change my oil annually (or sooner dependant on miles) but at 800 miles I'd consider going another 12 months.

I'm with Crump. You've paid for premium oil which will not have deteriorated at all, why tip it down the drain? Which obviously you wouldn't.

As an aside do they recommend full synthetic for the later STroms?

No idea but it was was cheaper than Motul 5100 that I  used to use.
All my mileage this year has been motorway with a little a roads at each end.

Even more reason not to change it, unless you were attempting a land speed record.
My oil was changed on returning from Italy October last year, that was a 4500 mile two up jolly jaunt. I've done very little this year, I'm guessing,  but probably around 1500 miles on semi synthetic. It won't be changed before next spring at the earliest, it still looks as clean as new.
I really don't prescribe to the cheap insurance rhetoric. Firstly it isn't cheap and secondly if you do prescribe to this mantra then wouldn't you change it every month........just in case?

Edit.....when I dropped the oil from the trip that also appeared very clear and clean, that and this fill are 5100.
