Hi, So today I got home and my u lock from the early 90`s was not on the back of my bike, gutted I've had it so long, I need a replacement any recommendations to make it as hard as poss to keep the shit heads away please?.
-
So mine (d lock Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit ) was top end in the early 90`s and was about £70 I think, pretty much useless today, so I have seen these
Hiplock dx1000 £250
LITELOK X3 Moto £249
madness but if it saves the bike.

Wow jesus that's a lot. Honestly I figure it's not that attractive or valuable a bike so I just want to dissuade the casual toerag. I opted for a Oxford
Oxford Nemesis on the basis that it's reasonable and yellow. That Litelock you referenced is very well thought of I believe but then it should be.

Check out any decent lock at Sold secure .

A pro will have your bike no matter what you put on.
I deter amateur scroats by having two for them to think about ( one for each brain cell ) , a disc lock and a cable lock to something solid ( Oxford gear , not top end but reliable , £50 ish each ). They may then pick some other poor bastards bike....Did I say I rarely wash mine.. :icon_wink:
Ho Hum

Well wonders never cease, I was out walking the dog this morning and there hanging on a garden rail near my house was my D lock, a bit scuffed from the impact, however I watched a test yesterday on yoo tube and my lock lasted 15 seconds each side with a grinder :yukk:, however the X3 took multiple discs up to 4 and a good few minutes to get through.

Perhaps ask your insurance provider which lock they recommend and maybe give discounts to. I did and mine is a New York Kryptonite or something like that. I bought it as a disk lock and very heavy duty chain but to be honest, the chain is too heavy to carry around unless riding into a high risk area like London. :thumb:

Thanks, but my insurance is only £110 a year fully comp, protected, chains are too heavy to carry around for what I do, prolly just go for the x3.
Thanks anyway

I use a Oxford Boss shackle disc lock.
Heavy and 12.6mm it's tidy enough, and small enough to go in my engine bar bags.

I think that Oxford Nemesis - may be a decent upgrade though.
We used to sell ABUS when I worked in the dealers - lovely bits of kit, but the good ones come with quite a price tag.

I've seen that now the locks are stronger against a grinder, they will just cut through the brake disc.
