Title: Nokia died
Post by: nigel s on August 05, 2025, 07:10:16
Checking my backup phone that lives on the bike , looks like after nearly 30 ? years it has finally died....
Thought I would ask on here if anyone has any recommendations for a cheap replacement that will take being stuffed in the tail pack and only turned on/ charged once a month.
I am on O2 with the main phone and want a different carrier, was Vodaphone on the Nokia I probably have some credit left with them  , thus doubling my chances of a signal in an emergency.
I have a drawer full of old phones....but none of them work either...

Ta.

I think Nokia sell a new version of the same.
If you want Vodafone then Lebara use their network, contracts can work out very cheap if you go through a site like MoneySavingExpert, obviously you may wish to go PAYG. But if for instance you travel abroad then Lebara offer free roaming too.
We're paying about £3.00 a month for a Lebara rolling contract over 12 months. It is £1.20 per month for the first six months.
Good luck.
I think you've had your monies worth.

Have you tried a new battery?

GifGaf sim only deals are good but they use O2 services which sort of defeats your purpose.

Thanks gents,
That lebara deal sounds good.
I think the battery is OK , it turns on and lights up but does nothing  :GRR:
Though as Mick said , it owes me nothing. I am loath to get rid though, while I have had it as back up I have never needed it, I will have to rub the new one with the lucky heather I got from that gypsy woman years ago
