Welcome,
Can I be cheeky ? ....... and ask why you chose the 650 ( the right decision  :stirpot: ) , after your previous bikes...?

I'm interested in this question also, the Gsx is way to much for me but the 800 and 650 are more relevant, I'm look something along these lines.

Welcome!
I am also interested why you went for the V-Strom 650? At some point I was considering the gsxs1000gt, but it has one major flaw for me. It is not a V. Also true for the V-Strom 800. I would have loved having an 800 V-engine as an option.

Many thanks for all the replies.
I went back to the 650 because I was going to loose my licence it was way too easy to speed, got 2 speeding tickets in 5 months. as for the 800 as nice as it is, it did have some heat from the engine (although I did fit the optional extra bars and sump guard) some say this may cause the excessive heat form the engine, some buzz issues as well at cruising speeds, but it did not have the character of the 650. Plus the 650 is way better on fuel lighter as well than both previous bikes. I think it’s hard to replace the 650 v twin it does everything you need.

Clinton137,
I can relate to your reasoning, I recently sold my CBR600RR because it was only a matter of time before it got me banned.
YES....I know the throttle goes both ways .....but a fast bike is just that ..a fast bike. Unless you ride it in its happy place, getting the best from the bike , it seems like a waste of riding time ....at least to me..

Nigel,
I can totally agree with what you have said. There is a motorcycle out there for everyone it doesn’t matter what you ride. Most important thing is that you enjoy it. Ride safe
