So Suzuki have released the price of the new DRZ 400 range. £7999. :dl_hyperhysteria:
I can't help thinking that they've made a massive Boo Boo
asking for that amount of money.
Honda's CRF300L only comes in at £5899, or their CRF300 Rally comes in at £6599.

I read the mini test review of the DRZ400 in 'Bike' magazine this month. They suggested that if it came in at £8,000 it would be 'on the money' as it brings a lot more quality to the table than the two Honda's? Not my cup of tea, I've got way more arse than it's got seat, sadly...

Aye, that's a daft price. I'm sure the dealers are shaking their heads a little. After the initial rush of those determined to have one (regardless of the price), I'm sure it will calm down. Suzuki are always prone to a bit of discounting in the long term.
I've had a couple od DRZ400SM's in the past. They are a gem of a bike. Think I'll wait a couple of years!

Start high then there is an opportunity to bring the price down and everybody is happy. Start low then put the price up and everybody will moan. The secret is to wait, read the reviews then if you still want one the price will have settled and those who have got to have the latest of everything never mind the price (finance works for some) will be selling their slightly used bikes at a price that you and me would be happier to pay. :auto-dirtbike: :thumb:

Comparing the DR to the CRF 300 is all a bit apples and oranges. The DR has a much higher output engine and far better suspension components and geometry than the CRF.
Give it a few months and the market will decide on the price, used ones will also stat to appear.
Being an old fart I remember when the original DRZ was introduced, it was like a spaceship when compared with it's predecessor, the air cooled DR 350. I had a sorted TT-R 250 at the time that gave a similar bhp figure (though lower torque) to the figures published for the CRF. A friend bought a new DRZ, I had a decent ride on it and decided it was too much for my greenlaning skill. I went on a trail riding holiday to Spain, they had a fleet of DRZ's, on the second day I found the limit of my ability versus talent.
I spent the rest of the week sitting by a pool with a broken scaphoid and two split knees that should have been stiched. :icon_no:

Typical Suzuki, start at a high price, sell a few to folk that can't wait then knock a grand or more of by the end of the year. That's how I got my vstrom, list was 10k, after 6months it's was 8.5k
I see secondhand Gas Gas and Husky 700's for less money than that, I know which I'd rather have!

All vehicles are overpriced, you don't have to buy them of course.
