You will have to teach the wife to run out and jack your front wheel up when you sound the horn, do it early though she will need time to open the garage door and, if you phone her before you leave, you can have a cup of tea waiting also.
You pay for your wife so she should be made to do something progressive, she will get faster. :lala:

Is you new stand one that lifts from the bottom of the fork or the version that lifts from the stearing neck (triple tree stand)?
The reason I ask, I tried the version that lifts from the bottom of the forks, but found that it was not suitable when it came to removing the forks, so I ended up with a DIY pipe tube stand. I had to modify the measurements of the pipe stand idea that I gleaned from a youtube video titled "Motorcycle Lift for $35", to suit that of the taller V-Strom.
Notice the use of the scissor jack in http://www.vstrom.info/vsri-gallery/gallery/MM/CHASSIS/Fork+Seal+lift.jpg.html, to have control when lowering the bike to the ground. The jack also helps in the event that anything goes wrong with the pipe stand.
A side note: This pipe stand is deemed dangerous by some, if the threaded sections are cut too deep when turning the threaded ends.
