Title: Saw this
Post by: Asmith61 on December 29, 2024, 10:46:48
We spent Christmas at my brother & sister in laws in Hythe Kent. We went out for a Boxing Day walk and saw this.

As it was sort of on someone’s drive / garden I didn’t get a great look, but managed to get these 2 photos.

I was thinking it might been adapted for a wheel chair ?

There was a company that made some very smart conversions for wheelchair use. Converted Honda 1000s, and Suzuki Bandits.  A few years back I say a Ducati based sidecar outfit with a flat sidecar. I  thought it looked really nice when stopped. The rider heaved a folded wheelschair up and flipped it upright and slid off the saddle onto the wheelchair. He did a 180 on the spot and wheeled himself off the sidecar platform. All done in the time it takes to read it.  The bike was modified, and the sidecar and all the equipment was built by the rider.

I've seen something very similar to this in Newcastle back in the early 2000's. The bloke had bought the 'outfit' to get around town in, it was based on a 50cc twist & go scooter and you rolled the wheelchair in the back and clamped it into place. Great idea for mobility, but it looked a bit of a liability on the roads. Saw it around a lot and then nothing ?

That makes perfect sense 2112

If you look closely at the pictures there are 2 mole grip clamps so I think this one is work in progress?
