Title: Tyre Advice DL650

Hi,  I purchased my 650 a year ago, just 1,100 miles from new on 2010 model. The bike had been garaged in a dark garage and well looked after.  However, it never feels truly planted on the road until the tyres are warm, it's also extremely sensitive to tyre pressures, just 1 PSI below the recommended on either end and its doesn't feel as good.  I'm pretty sure its on the original tyres, there's load of tread left on front and rear.   Do I need to get these changed asap due to their age?  Am I being fussy? I just want it to feel a bit more secure round the bends.  Thinking of Road 5s, Mutants or Roadtecs - the bike never goes off road.

Milo.
On the sidewall is a 4 digit number.The first 2 are week the next 2 are Year the tyre was made.
Anything over 5 years old is to be treated with suspicion.
Road 6 is my favourite tyre ,don't think they do a 5 in our sizes anymore but could be wrong.

I'd change them Milo if they're the originals.
I like A41's but any current rubber choice will work well.

Thanks for that useful info, the tyres are week 27 year 2009. 

I swaying towards Mutants, if I can find a them for a decent price.

I don't know about the mutants but the road 5 will warm up quick and are sticky enough not to let you down. Tyre pressure I use is 36 42. I've tried different and the recommended pressure too but 36 42 seems to work best.  :thumb:

2009 ....OK ,they  probably need to go when you can.
Any of the modern tyres will feel a lot better.
Prices are silly these days so keep an eye out for deals .
If you have a regular place you take your bike for new tyres ask them how much to fit tyres you supply.Preferably to loose wheels,if you can.
Then you can look on Ebay for cheap deals and factor in the added cost of fitting,Sometimes works out cheaper.
Just check the build date on any tyre you get posted :thumb:

I agree, any newer rubber is likely to feel miles better than 14 year old tyres, and maybe a bit more confidence inspiring too!
