I was looking at specifications today and read that both the DL1000ABS 2014 and the 1050 have a 1037cc engine. Well, I didn't know that. :shy: :thumb:

I have the 650 but really tempted to get the 1000 😩😩😩

I have a 650 and just bought a 1000 so I now know just how brilliant the 650 is. Don't feel that you are missing much. What the 650 looses on mph it gains on mpg and with roads and speed limits as they are you are actually missing nothing unless maybe you want to do a long, quick tour of Europe and the 650 does that too. When I travel at motorway speed on my 650 for a few hours (which I don't often do) I just feel that mechanically the 1000 is more relaxed. I plan on doing a European trip next year hence the 1000. :thumb:

Yes the 2014 on vstrom's went to 1037cc by way of a 1mm (I think) larger bore over the original bike.
As I get older I sometimes think of going the other way, 1000 to 650. I know I'd miss that low down torque but not the size and weight.
I parked beside a 2023 1050 today, looked the part, much nicer that mine, more modern but 13k now, not the bargain it once was but then what is.

So I actually live in Germany and as you know autobahn has no speed limit I had a trip to Koln for the weekend and nice straight flat open roads with no traffic bike sits really comfy at 150 kmh I took it up to 180 because I wanted to see what she had in her but my arse fell out ( I did have 3 travel boxes attached)lol but definitely was a bit more there , also brand new clutch felt really good 160 and up its working but 140/150 is really comfy

Aha Paderborn! I used to be based at Alanbrooke Barracks 40 years ago. Many a pleasant commute on the bike through Bad Lippspringe to our depot at Nieheim. :lala: Sorry for the thread drift and good luck with the bike. :GRR:
Cheers,
Dicky.

I was in Munster twice, once for 3 years and then for the last 2 years of my battalions 4 year tour. I've spent many happy days in Sennelager, shooting. I was only 18 yrs when first in Germany and bought a nice quick car (in it's day) to enjoy the Autobahn's and other roads, the Germans like to drive fast. :thumb:
