My new steed sharing a pub trip with one of my older toys riden by my youngest son

The old Benly's were pretty much unbreakable.

Yes I agree I had one that I bought from a lad at work then he bought it back from me and over the course of 5 years we both owned it 4 times lol brilliant little bike.

I had one in brown that I used to commute on to save my Fazer thou. The only problem was loose spokes in the back wheel,a common fault ,easily sorted.
The main thing I noticed was the reaction of other road users. When I commuted on the fazer ,at the same time every day,you see the same people all the time, and the journey was unevenfull. On the benley at the same speed with the same people around me everyone wanted to overtake or pull out or plain have me off.It was almost as if they thought "that's big I won't mess with that" on the fazer. On the Benly it was " buggered if I'm following that old wreck". Very noticable was a friend of my sister ,a very nervous driver who left loads of space, and who knew me on my old bike. But on the Benly not recognising me would regularly cut me up.
All very bizarre.
But the Benly took it all and kept on going along .

Also ,just looked at the pic again and was struck by the difference in front tyres. The Benly's crossply harking back from a time when all bikes were "multi purpose" and were expected to handle all your needs, and the modern version.I know tyre technology has come on but it does point to a different expectation of what we want from our rides. The Benly tyre today would be a 70/30? maybe.
