Title: Getting a spare key cut for a 2009 Wee

Simple question, can Tipsons (other key cutters may be available, but not here) do it or do I need to find a blank somewhere else first.

I know - I could ask, but they're closed a minute  :smirk:

I've only ever had the one key, as 2009 is old tech hopefully its an 'easy'?

Local key place had to order the correct blank in (he got a mahoosive book off the shelf and literally just compared it to a picture in the book), took a couple of days and then he cut and programmed mine for £40. Don't know whether the 09 has an immobiliser chip, if not, then it should be a bit cheaper than £40!

I got a key cut for an '07 and the shop used a Silca blank which is actually considerably stronger than the OEM key which seems to be quite soft metal. Cost maybe 7 or 8 quid.

* Parts sites list the same OEM key blank for your bike as mine so I'd assume the same pattern blank would work.

Thanks everyone, think that's me sorted  :thumb:

I had an embarrassing moment on Scarborough Armed Forces Day when I locked my bike gear in pannier....with keys in pocket  :crazy:

I was lucky that a gentleman in a nearby garden rigged up three extension leads for his angle grinder as it would have been b'stard hard to otherwise cut in to these impressively well protected boxes. Be quite easy to angle grind through pannier of course  :icon_no:

I need a spare ignition key anyway but will 'hide' a spare and pannier key on bike for future (never!) occurrences :grin:

Out of interest do you think that blank would work for a OEM Suzuki Pannier key on a 2006 Wee?
