I will have to check if the tyre lose pressure... if not, is it then safe to drive on?
-
If your tyre isn't leaking air , yes .
-
I suspect that the nail may have gone though the inner belting / weave and will cause a slow leak. Test with tyre once inflated to the correct pressure, sponge on a soapy water mix and observe if any bubbles. If any sign of a leak, you may require a sticky string / rope or similar repair job. Have a look at the video in https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=39375.0 for a suitable solution.

I actually have a repair set along with me that I can use in emergency.
But I rode something like 300 km on it now without any visible loss of pressure. I will measure correct later.

A reminder of "sod's law".....
If a thing can go wrong, it will go wrong and at the worst possible moment.
If it was my tyre I'd have it professionally 'plugged'.
-
If it has only made it into the rubber then you're more likely to cause an issue by having someone drill into the carcass to plug a hole that isn't there. If this was my tyre, I'd bubble test it and repeat that after a ride or two. If there was no leakage then I'd leave it as is but keep an eye on it.
-
yeah, I follow you, Mr Nick. Pressure was slightly lower than yesterday, but I checked at another gas station, so I think it is because of difference calibrated equipment. I will soon change the tyre anyway
-
Tyres changed... Just in case
-
I always try to use the same pressure gauge, then at least the results are consistent. Checking it against another which is know to be accurate really helps as well!
-
Yeah ... but I was 200 KMs away from the first gauge (;
-
Too late now, but next time, take one with you, they're not that big and will take up little room. :)
