Hello! Does anyone have any experience of alternative rear brake friction material for the 1050? Front brake performance is fine, but, in my opinion, the rear is poor.
-
Hello Bazzie, it is common knowledge now that Suzuki make their rear brake pads from old bathroom tiles.I have been using EBC FA174 pads on my bikes for a few years and find them great, not sure whether they will fit your bike but the HH material is much better than the original.

The 1050 has the same rear caliper as my 1000, it's an OK brake at best no matter what pads. I've used EBC+ hh which where better but now I use DP+ hh which are better again.
-
Sorry, to add to this, does anyone know the rear caliper torque value? Manual is saying 17nm but I'm sure I read the manual gave the incorrect figures here - and 17 seems very low for a caliper....

I have been riding a lot on my 1050. First rear pad change was to SBS... second to Brembo (also brembo rotor change). No much difference... I remember the SBS as being bad though.
On the front there is a big difference - History is the same here... first SBS then Brembo pad and rotors. Better grip, and the noise that came from the original ones are no longer present on the Brembo

I've been having the same problem.
In normal riding I've not noticed it much but on The Picos two weeks ago I got definite fading from them - came back when cooled down. The front were VERY good but I changed to EBC as they were worn and now they're even better.

I've just recently installed EBC HH on my 650 and I'm impressed so far. Might be worth a try 🤷♂️

New bike, and at just 300 miles I've had to clean a thick layer of brake dust from the back wheel, twice already!
Is this normal for a V-strom 1050?

Is your right foot inadvertently resting on the pedal?
-
I thought that might be asked, but no, nowhere near. I have to put a little effort in to using the rear brake.

Thanks for asking though 👍
