DL650XT L9 rear mudguard removal

Replacing Licence Tag light holder and understand that mudguard removal is required.

Any screenshots, or video captures of the removal process?

Ah, OK. If it is just the assembly I ringed, the mudguard can stay on. It unplugs in the tail, at the left, and the nuts washers and spacers at 10, 11 and 12 come off underneath. Some wd40 may well be needed, the nuts attract a lot of crud from the rear wheel. Don't over tighten them on replacement, the studs are just moulded in to the backplate and are easy to strip. Especially if you're a clumsy Yorkshireman.

Thanks for replying. Did not read it before installation, but thanks for the info.

For future readers:

Found that the descriptions I had researched referenced mudguard and mudguard removal to access the wires.

In my case, I have the Suzuki XT matching top-box. So, removed the top-box mounting bracket along with the passenger rail/luggage rack piece too.

Once those were removed the lighting assembly then "lifts off" to access the lighting assembly.

*** Not knowing, I also loosened side-box rail bolts for earlier mentioned uneeded mudguard removal and thus added extra time to the removal/install.
