Hi folks I’ve got a new vstrom 650xt, blue, now got 320 miles on it. From the get go I’ve been very surprised at the vibration felt through the foot pegs and worryingly the handlebar grips. I now say worryingly as several hours later my right hand is still ‘sore’ from the hour or so spent on the move. Paisley to Inveraray and back today. The seat is uncomfortably sore, I’m vertically challenged 5’7”, so got the lowered seat, has anyone found this to be a right pain in the a ###.... bike was brand new in March, had to wait till I was allowed out due to Covid19. I’d love to hear anyone else’s opinion of vibration issues on this bike. Jeez I though my blade was uncomfortable....

Can't really speak about the newer bikes as I don't have one but the old 650 engine was smooth and vibration free. There was an issue surrounding the factory crash bars that used to resonate at certain revs, maybe the XT has the same issue? As for the seat, maybe lowering the suspension would be a better move, then you can use a seat with more padding.

Regarding the vibrations, a bike that new should be smooth.
Maybe the PDI wasn't done properly..? If it's still under warranty take it back.

Have you got engine bars fitted ? The seat will soften up and get better but the lower seat does have more foam removed to make it lower. :thumb:

There should be no vibration take it back to the dealer, and as had been said it would of been better if the bike was lowered like mine instead of hacking the seat about

Even bearing in mind it's a V twin, it shouldn't be vibrating that much, get it checked over. Does it do it at standstill, too?

I had the exact same issue with a new 1000XT, short version is Suzuki replaced it under warranty, they are very good like that.
The long version is that numerous things were tried which meant it was in the dealers, but they could not get to the bottom of it. My replacement 1000XT has no similar issues.
I would recommend raising the issue with the dealer who supplied it and contacting Suzuki customer service.

I have a 2017 XT and have no vibration issues. Please speak to the dealer and see what they say. I have had no issues at all with the bike since buying it brand new (tempting fate!) Its a great bike. I have had no issues with pain caused by the bike, just lack of fitness and old age on my part. (leg cramps)

2017 Model 650 here and its spot on. As mentioned please take it back to the dealer and have a chat - see if they have a demo bike and ride them back to back. The 650's especially are well renowned for being a smooth and capable all rounder.

I have a new (Feb 20) non XT version. The only vibrations I notice are around 5500rpm, especially in 3rd, or 4th gear. This is only when I’ve changed down and I’m pre over take or similar. ( so sitting in that rev range on light throttle, before adding throttle to overtake).
Cruising at that rpm there is a slight ‘rough’ spot, but in both cases hardly detectable.
My bike is now at around 900 miles, with the first service out of the way. So I’m using full rpm.
As v twins go, the DL650 motor is pretty much the smoothest I’ve ridden.
I don’t have Suzuki engine bars fitted. I have Heed ones, which I fitted myself, with no difference in ‘feeling’ once fitted. (They were done at around 200 miles).
In terms of the seat, I opted to lower my bike with different dog bones. I found the stock seat was hard for the first 200-400 miles, then seemed to improve. (I was lent a zero mile DL650 while mine was serviced at almost 700 miles, and the seat on the new bike felt very hard, so they do give).
I think as others have said, it’s time to discuss with the dealer. If they have another one, a demo or something they could perhaps let you try that.
