Bank holiday Monday found me travelling at high speed across country (relative taken into hospital) mainly motorways / fast A roads, it really was a matter of life and death so I wasn’t hanging about and wanted to get to my destination.
There maybe a simple answer to this, but I haven’t checked the bike yet, but thought I’d ask here first.
At speeds over 90 mph the upper section of the screen started to slide upwards until it reached its maximum height, I was able to push it back down by simply pressing on the top of the upper screen.
I’m assuming the two catches that grip the upper section of the screen can simply be tightened up?
I do however remember peeling off a sticker on the screen when I fitted it saying “do not exceed speeds of 135 kmh”
Anybody else have this problem?

As I remember, the recessed locknut in the front of the catch can be tweaked with a socket.

The lock nut can be tightened. Undo the clip and tighten the nut. I'd go maybe a 1/8 turn at a time though, then try again.

Hmm this problem is a persistent SOB, I’ve tightened up the nuts and moved the screen sliding process up to around 100 mph. Okay that is a daft speed on a public highway and to be honest I’m only doing it to test the gripping ability of the latches on very empty stretches of road.
Question is how bloody tight do these nuts have to be to completely eliminate this issue, or just stop testing the gripping ability of the latches and accept it. Just wondering if there’s an official torque setting, and in Givi’s defence they do state the top user speed of 135 km/h.

I'm watching this thread with my finger half cocked at pulling the trigger on one of these screens. I think it would do my OCD swede in, if it kept adjusting itself.

Seriously, I wouldn’t let my rant put you off making the purchase. These screens as far as I’m concerned are still brilliant and the issue I’m describing happens only at excessive speeds. Besides I’ve retightened the recessed nuts and I’ll be retesting shortly I’ll report back.

I've had mine 6+ years (on a 650) but never had any issues at any speed - not been 100+mph though... I have only tightened the recessed nuts once after about 4 years, but I think I put a blob of blue loctite on them too.

Ticker,just do it,they are a great screen,I have had mine on for about four and a half years, (29k Miles) and its never moved.I would get one now as import duty may go up shortly as they come in from Italy.

So today I did some high speed riding just to prove a point, and the screen remained stationary. I would add that I tightened it down as much as I dared to, but will probably add some thread locker to make it fully secure.
We scored a registered 110 mph (probably a true 100 mph), for a few seconds and that was enough - so all good Ticker make the purchase you won’t regret it :thumb:
