Title: FI code and flashing red light
Post by: roganjoshing on March 26, 2019, 08:25:40
Hi everyone

I have an intermittent fault.  Sometimes when I turn the ignition key, after it cycles, I get a flashing red light in the centre of the dash and a code saying FI or F1 where the clock is - it will then turn over but not start.  If I try a few times it generally goes back to normal starting procedure and starts and runs fine.  My owners manual says it is an injection problem but no detail.  Any ideas?  I'm dreading getting stuck somewhere if it gives up completely.

Cheers

Two first checks would be clutch switch and side stand switch. Check the switch and the wiring. Good luck!

Hi. I searched older posts on here and found more info about fault codes. I'll try to get one this weekend and let you all know.

Are you getting a CHEC warning? Normally you would get this with clutch/killswitch/sidestand switch issues?

there's another handy 'dealer mode how-to' link HERE (https://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,7061.0.html)

Did you sort this issue?

I have had exactly the same issue but my bike eventually cut out completely; instrument display blank, no fuel pump, etc.

I have resolved it now but it took ages to fix the problem as it was a corroded wire splice inside the loom.
