Tyres for DL1000 just about to replace Tyres are looking for recommendations for what tyre and a good place to get them replaced I live near Port Talbot in Wales, 70% road use.

Had 3 sets of Annakee3 on two storms now and will soon fit another set soon. Coping well with unpaved roads and wearing well with over 10k on current set

80/20 road/off road - or at least looks offroad. won't get you very far in the ruff stuff:
Anakee 2 or 3
Tourance (original not exp or next)
Pure road:
Road 5 trail
A40/41 adventure
Take your pick. Any of the above options are accepted good fitments for the Stroms. Anything other than the above starts to get into niche options or personal preferance away from the norm. :shrug:

Road 5 trail, cope well with green laning too, great grip on the road, wet or dry.

Hello need some advice, I use my DL1000 every day on motorway to work and want some advice for best high mileage road styled tyres. I had same style Bridgestone tyres replaced every year and get about 8500 miles out of them but feel they don't let me really push the bike on bends. Any suggestions?

The trail on the front is good on the rear they wear faster than the road version, I'm referring to 4's, but don't imagine the 5's will be much different.

They're not Wurzel! My rear pr5 will be lucky to see 4k, the sides wear like mad, back to adventure style tyres for me next time.

They are not squaring off that bad but then I'm riding a 650, 6k miles now and looks like they should last another few thousand no problem.

Not DL1000 really,but DL650,they both have tyres.Not many agree with me,but I really recommend Tourance Next tyres.I am on my third set now and just cannot fault them.Great all round handling and totally brill in the wet.It rained every day last June in Spain.Not even a whisper of a slip and the N260 (where our hotel was situated) is MEGA twisty.They square off on long distance touring,but I don?t know of a bike tyre that doesn?t.The only downside is that they are more expensive that the more popular makes.Just my two pence worth.I do prefer a tyre I can trust and which gives confidence,if it costs a few quid more,what?s a few quid compared with feeling uncomfortable in the rain.
BTW.Did this forum go a little weird at around 18:30 this evening?

And that's what we like about it!
There has to be a reason I've stuck around 4 years :shock: after selling my :-Strom- or everyone is too polite to tell me to sod off :shrug:
As far as tyres go on hefty bikes with a bit of torque, The Anakee 2 were exelent on my 650 and a few friends with 15 plate DL1000's highly rate the Anakee 3's though I've never used the 3's.
Personaly the Anakee 2 or Tourance (original) would be my choice for the crap roads covered in mud and a little garvel I tend to ride in summer months.
Winter riding the same roads means something a little more knobbly just incase as I tend to be billy no mates and don't fancy getting stuck.
If I wanted a pure road tyre with good handling, good lifespan and high levels of grips I'd be looking at the Bridgestone A40/41.
Tyres is a personal chioce and others on her will atest, what's right for one person won't be right for the next.
The K60/E-07+ combo I have is not going to work for 95% of riders out there, but it works for me. It's about what works for you on your bike.
Eg Anakee2 on my DL650 was exelent, but Anakee 2's on the Varadero didn't inspire the came confidence in the feel of the front wheel but I would fit them again:shrug:
Most of the new tyres are all made to such high standards you're not likely to find a bad quality one, but you may find one you don't gel with.

The pilot road 4 (non trail) lasted me 5k and was replaced with a 5(non trail also). It's wearing fast, it'll do 4k maybe 4.5k. I must be turning that wee thing in my righthand to much! Might try the Met tourance next or anakee 3's next to see if I can get more miles. Did try the A40's twice and though I did get 6.5k out of the rears I never liked them, side walls to hard giving a harsh ride.

Had some Anakee 3's fitted today, just a short ride home. Have to say they are the shinest, slippiest new tyres I've ever had, I will need to take it easy for 100 miles at least.
Disappointed to find when I got home that they where made in January 16!
