Title: Starting niggles
Post by: graingerblaze on September 04, 2018, 09:43:00
Just a quick question to see if anyone else has experienced the starting niggles I'm having.

I always start the bike once I'm sat on it with both the centre and side stands up. I turn the ignition, wait for the display to show 'chec' then I switch the kill switch and wait for the electrical buzz to finish. Once quiet I press the start button... that should all be fine.

However lately I press the button and nothing, like the battery is dead. I press it again and sometimes it starts but usually nothing again, on the third press it always starts.

I suspect the battery is dying, so I will order a new one soon but was wondering if these false starts could be anything else?

Do you pull the clutch in to start ? If so the clutch switch maybe playing up .

Thanks, that's a great point.

Yes I always pull the clutch lever in, it could well be the switch which is a fairly cheap and easy thing to change. I will order one now and try it, as I would rather hold off replacing the battery as it does hold it's charge fairly well considering its near the end of it's life (now 5 years old).
